Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've never dealt with online returns nor have I used a dropbox before.

I was sent a replacement device from Apple via Fedex with a prepaid return label on it. I'm supposed to ship back the faulty device in the same box.

Could I just drop it off at a dropbox and call it a day or would I need to go to an in-person Fedex location? Thanks!

One caveat, sometimes the returns are not through the same carrier as it came to you. Many times they will send you the return box via us but the return is through the USPS. Please look at the label. Putting it in the wrong box only delays the process and any monetary credit to you.

If it is in fact a FedEx shipping label, drop it at the FedEx office store, or any other office supply place in your area that has daily Ground and Express pickups. Or flag down the driver in your neighborhood, they might take it from you.

No. Lots of people mistakenly do exactly that, so all the carriers pick up packages from each other's locations eventually. But it could take a week or more for them to get around to it, the package won't get scanned in the meantime, and it invalidates your Mercari seller protection.

Kinkos is a FedEx drop off point too. You can use an actual FedEx or any shipping center that has a FedEx drop off. Deadline depends on where you are. On the West Coast it’s 5 or 6:00pm you can just Google FedEx locations near you and it will say what the deadline is. You pay more for priority which is delivered by 10:00am. The cheaper option is standard which should arrive by 3:00pm.
