I’m in Canada and there’s not a lot of good silk options. Mommesilk.com has a silk cap I like the cut of (already received along with pillow cases) but I can’t confirm it’s real silk.. it’s from china and trustpilot has reviews about it being fake and not real silk.

They don’t make the OKEO-TEX info (the number) easily available. Just says they “have it” on the site.

How is everyone on this sub assured it’s legit? Genuine question.

Yeah, unfortunately all silk products pretty much originate from China and you have to go on their say-so on the legitimacy of their products. When I got a silk insert from Mommesilk for my parents a few years back I was pretty impressed with their quality and the silk inside of it, from what I was able to test, was genuine, but if they have recently gone downhill then it's definitely something I would like to know for future if it proves true. One of the best ways to 'test' silk products is via a burn test, to see if it's legit silk or something else. I find this video helpful since they also test bamboo as an example since bamboo can sometimes be hawked off as silk for cost-cutting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stTUA5ckhc8 Just keep in mind that if you should perform a burn test to do so inside of a bathtub and take all proper precautions! But short of that, you could DNA test them but that tends to be pretty expensive to do and takes a lot longer, so expect to spend more time/money into getting solid answers.

I ordered from Mommesilk.com. I waited for over two week and this order was not shipping. I contacted their customer service via email and asked them to cancel the order and they did. There’s something scammy about their website. I saw that they have their products on Amazon Prime, so I’d recommend go that route if still interested. I opted for a different silk comforter off Amazon.

Mommesilk shipped my new silk comforter in a flimsy bag that broke open along the seams and also was caught on things and or otherwise cut open in shipping. The comforter is dirty in all of the places it broke open. Do I pay to have it exchanged and likely shipped again in the same shitty bag or try and spot clean it?

Anyone has good experiences with mommesilk customer service? Maybe they will wave shipping it back because of this?
