What should I look for in heavy-duty shipping boxes?
Heavy-duty shipping boxes are designed for transporting heavier or bulkier items. When selecting them, consider:
- Material strength: Look for double or triple-wall corrugated cardboard for added durability.
- Size and weight capacity: Ensure the box can comfortably hold your items without risk of breaking.
- Reinforced corners and edges: These features add extra protection during transit.
- Compatibility with packing materials: Make sure the box allows space for cushioning to protect contents.
Choosing the right heavy-duty box helps secure your shipment and reduces the chance of damage.
How can I pack fragile items safely in shipping boxes?
Packing fragile items requires careful preparation to reduce the risk of damage:
- Use sturdy boxes with enough space for padding.
- Wrap each item individually with bubble wrap or foam sheets.
- Fill empty spaces inside the box with packing peanuts, crumpled paper, or air pillows to prevent movement.
- Label the box as "Fragile" to alert handlers.
- Seal the box securely with strong packing tape on all seams.
These steps help protect your items during shipping and handling.
How do I choose the right size shipping box for my items?
Choosing the right size shipping box depends on the dimensions and fragility of your items. Here are some tips:
- Measure your items carefully, including any padding or protective materials.
- Allow extra space for cushioning materials like bubble wrap or packing paper to prevent damage.
- Pick a box that fits snugly without being too tight or too loose to avoid shifting during transit.
- Consider the box strength based on the weight of your items; heavier items need sturdier boxes.
Walmart offers a variety of sizes and strengths to suit different shipping needs, making it easier to find the right fit.

I've expanded recently and I sell mostly small items so I was wondering where I should start to look to buy boxes. I only sell on the side so I don't need too many.
Ive NEVER once bought a box. When Im not shipping Priority I place a bright neon colored sticker on the box that I print myself that says "This purchase shipped in an 'experienced' box saving you money and the Earth landfill space". Never had anybody question it in 3 years of heavy shipping. I ask retailers for boxes and get them from dumpsters
Dollar stores or Walmart for stock time. They are free. Don't buy them.
