I wanted to know what are some good places I can shop in person for clothes and shoes that are relatively cheap, or maybe they frequently have good discounts. I can't think of many places because I honestly haven't gone clothe shopping in many MANY years. I can only think of Walmart and another place i've gone to on like 2 or 3 occasions, I "think" it was Kohls or Marshalls, I don't remember which it was. I don't necessarily care about name brands per se, but I also want to buy decent clothes for cheap, what I mean by decent is I don't want to buy that type of clothes that just looks...crappy for a lack of a better word. Like sometimes I see someone wearing jean pants that are way too open ( like the circumference of the opening) or maybe they are cut short at the ends, they look like clothes you would buy at a 711 gas station. I obviously don't want that. In the past I would also have gone to the mall like JC Penny, but i don't remember their clothes being cheap. So I am just trying to get some ideas of some stores that I might not be aware of that fits the category of what I am looking for. Looking forward to the help.
Thank You
Edit: just want to thank everyone for the help, there are a lot of stores (more than I thought there would be) to look at, and I'll see which ones Ill go for this upcoming week.
I'm not making much money these days, but I've had a little bit of spending money over the holidays and I haven't gotten any new clothes in a while.
Would like some good options for places to to enjoy the thrill of thrifting while also not paying close to brand new prices for some used clothing.
Hello Reddit.
I will be visiting Chicago in 2 ½ weeks time for 5 days. I have 2 days on my itinerary for shopping and I intend on visiting the following -
‘Discount/Clearance style stores’ -
Ross Dress For Less
Saks Off 5th
TJ Maxxx
Marshalls
Macy's Backstage
Nordstrom Rack
Burlington
Sports Clothes Stores -
Foot Locker
Champ Sports
Lids / Lids Locker Room
Wrigleyville Sports
Sports World
Dick’s Sporting Goods
I’ll be staying in River North so Wrigleyville and the Loop where most of these stores are located are easily accessible for me, either on foot or via public transport.
For context I’m male, late 30’s, waist 30-32 inch (depending on the clothes brand) and about 5'10. I’m kind of looking for anything clothing wise that catches my eye but I’m focused on basketball jerseys, hoodies, jeans and exercise gear (long sleeved tops and the like). I live in the UK and we have virtually no shops that I know of that sell multiple basketball jerseys/hats in one place (hence why Lids is on my list)
I can’t find much information on the following though -

Are all the discount stores the same/similar? Particularly in terms of what they stock. I’m looking for US brands like Adidas, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. I realize that stock changes probably weekly or even daily but I don’t know if some are considered more ‘upmarket’ than others?

I want to get some Chicago Cubs gear, like hats and T-Shirts. Are there any stores that are good for sales? I realize I’m limited in terms of what’s on sale the exact dates I’m there but are prices kept low by competition between the stores?

The sales tax is on everything right?

Any other stores that I’m missing but should consider?
