I did not find this topper very soft at all. Nor very cooling. Also, for those who care, the cover is NOT 100% (or even majority) organic cotton -- it's 60% polyester, 40% organic cotton on top, and all synthetic on the bottom. I had assumed part of the high price tag was for the organic cotton! More on reddit.com

Buying mattresses is so subjective. It can take a really long time of sleeping on it for weeks until you know which firmness is best for you. Fortunately, buying a mattress that is too firm is the better situation to be in. Putting a soft topper onto a firm mattress is a great way to make a wonderful overall assembly. Going the other way doesn't work nearly as well, if at all. If your mattress is too soft to begin with, you'll always have something that provides inadequate support and is prone to giving you back pain. The other nice thing about using a topper is that you now get the choice of materials. I suspect Saatva is going to send you memory foam. But if that isn't what you like, then for relatively little money, you can also get polyfoam or latex foam. This forum has plenty of great suggestions for those materials. More on reddit.com

I learned about mattress materials the hard way. Bought a cheap one online last year. Seemed fine at first, but then I started getting really itchy. Couldn't figure out why until I saw these tiny shiny specks on my sheets. Turns out it was fiberglass from inside the mattress. What a nightmare. Those fibers got everywhere - clothes, carpet, even my kitchen. Been cleaning for weeks and still finding it. The worst part? I had to throw out so much stuff. Clothes, bedding, even my favorite chair. It's like the fiberglass contaminated everything it touched. The cost of replacing all this is way more than what I "saved" on the mattress. If you're buying a mattress, check what's inside. Avoid fiberglass at all costs. It's not worth saving a few bucks if you end up with this mess. Spend more on a good mattress without fiberglass. Earlier this year, my husband and I bought a firm mattress to help with my husband's back pain. He's a light sleeper and requires more sleep than I do. The mattress took some getting used to, but now he sleeps pretty comfortably on it.
Well, I'm a side sleeper and this mattress unfortunately does not suite me. I bought a cheap mattress topper on Amazon that was essentially a blanket for my half of the bed and layered it with another comforter.
Since getting the mattress, I've had many week-long episodes where I was getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night. I'm not entirely blaming the mattress, but it's definitely a contributing factor.
Anywho, a month ago my husband suggested we get a topper for the whole bed and I jumped at the opportunity. After looking at reviews, I splurged and got the Saatva Graphite Memory Foam Topper. (The graphite helps keep everything cooler).
IT IS A DREAM. I sleep so well now and fall asleep so quickly. I feel like I'm sleeping in a luxury hotel. I love it so much, it makes me so happy. Definitely worth the price point for good quality sleep.
Anywho, if anyone is wondering about buying it: 5/5 gold stars, would recommend!
