Answer 1 of 5: I am taking my two teens to Denver in early June. I am an avid hiker but won’t do much hiking on this trip because the teens have been complaining. We will arrive noon on a Saturday and leave noon time on Wednesday. So we have 3.5 days. I... More on tripadvisor.co.nz
Booked a flight for Denver, any trails near the airport?
I feel like this is r/denvercirclejerk material. A quick look at maps will show you the airport is in the plains east of Denver, like Kansas. You're not getting any hikes without at least an hour drive or more. Especially with any views. If you have 12 hours to rent a car, then there are definitely some solid foothill hikes to hit in the day though. More on reddit.com

r/Shoestring on Reddit: Last Minute Colorado Mountain Destination near Denver. Cheaper alternatives to Estes Park?
June 13, 2021 -
Looking to fly into Denver and I’d like to stay in the mountains. Not looking for a rugged outdoor vacation, but I would like to do some leisurely hiking in the mountains and take in some nice views one day and maybe rent a Kayak. Also hoping for some restaurants, ice cream, mini golf and “vacationy” things to do. I need to relax!
Any cheap alternatives to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National park? I assume there are plenty of parks and hikes outside of RMNP that are less busy. Looking to spend 2-3 days next week.

Manitou Springs outside of Colorado Springs about two hours away from metro Denver. Really nice. Bring a water bottle because they have free public drinking fountains of the mineral water there that's delicious!

June 6, 2014 - From almost any lodging in Estes Park, you are less than 30 minutes from most major trailheads in RMNP especially the popular east side trails. The trade off is that July is the busiest month for visiting Estes Park and RMNP. As a solo female, that may be a good thing. You will not be hiking alone and as you know, the first rule of hiking is not to go alone especially on longer and more diffficult hikes.
