My Googling about how to turn off background apps has yielded this advice:
"To disable background apps in Windows 11, open the Settings app and navigate to the Apps tab. Then, select the app you want to disable, go to Advanced options, and choose "Never" under Background Apps Permissions."
There are like 10 thousand apps in the Apps tab. The thought of selecting every app, one by one, and going through all the rigamarole that is required to turn off background permissions makes me want to hurl myself out a window. It is simply an unthinkable task. (It makes one wonder if this is perhaps by design.)
Is there no other way to accomplish the goal?? Please be my hero and advise. Many thanks.
(Also, even if I could just view a list of what apps are running in the background, that would be helpful.)

Why do Android apps run in the background?
Apps running in the background is an essential feature in the Android ecosystem. This allows the phone to work backstage while you’re doing other things. You can keep a web page loading while you check Facebook, for example. As such, this allows for better multitasking.
Which background apps are known for being big battery hogs?
We can’t give you a definitive list of apps that drain your phone the most, but we can say that social media apps are common culprits. These might include Facebook, Messenger, Snapchat, and others. Of course, music and video streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify are other common culprits.
Are there any apps you should let run in the background, even if they drain the battery?
It all depends on which apps are important to you. If you rely on Facebook for work, for example, stopping it from running in the background isn’t a viable option. Additionally, stopping system apps from running in the background can affect performance and functionality.
Hi, good day! I'm Jerico T., I understand that you're having some issues right now, I'll do my best to help you with your concern.
The Clean Boot is the best way to close or disable applications/programs that are less needed for your computer to startup. Rest assured that it's safe and you don't have to reset your device, you just have to restart it.
Closing or disabling programs one by one might be risky because you might disable important background processes. You may refer to the link below for the complete definition of Clean Boot and for the step-by-step instructions on how to perform Clean Boot.

Please do let me know if you need any further assistance.
Hope this help. Have a good day.
Thank you,

Thank you for your quick response. Clean boot is a troubleshooting method that will disable any third-party applications that are less needed for your computer. You can also select the applications that you only want to disable, same thing if you want to enable them again. If you don't want to perform clean boot, that's fine. We can try to check your startup programs by performing the steps below.
- Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to open task manager.
- Click the Startup apps tab.
- Disable any apps that you don't want to start when you boot your computer.
- Restart your device.

I'm trying to turn off background apps to help performance and battery life, but i don't know which apps to turn off or on. So far, I've turned all of them off. Which apps should I let run in the background? My pc is windows 10.
Some youtuber recommended turning this setting off for a small performance boost in games. I have no idea if that's true but there's a couple of things on the list I'm concerned about disabling, especially Windows Security (duh) and Nvidia Control Panel (will disabling this also disable any settings like gsync?). Does toggling this setting actually change anything either performance or application effectiveness?
Is there any app for Android (non-root) able to stop applications from running in background?
Battery Tool (on F-Droid) works only on rooted systems
Thanks
