To preface, I have around 20 credit cards (Pay statements in full monthly) 2 of them being Citi Credit cards each with $10k limit. I recently received a pre-approved offer for the Citi Doublecash, with a bonus after spending $1500. Decided might as well since its been almost a year since I've taken out a new card. To my surprise I got approved for $500.....
I called the CSR # and after 45 mins the person on the phone did a Credit Line Increase, even though I explained that I wanted my initial limit reconsidered. He proceeded to do something I could've done myself via the App in 1 minute. After feeling like my time was wasted with someone on the other side who didn't understand my concern and an auto denial "You will receive a letter in the mail" bs. I called the direct reconsideration line, the rep (much nicer and understood my concern) told me that since I was approved they could not do anything, a CSR would be the ones to help.
Has anyone else experienced this through Citi and have any tips, or should I just cancel as soon as I get it and retry calling after having the physical card? My total credit limit is $200k and I don't NEED this card, I wanted to take advantage of the offer. Thanks in advance.

$200k TCL is quite a bit. Curious what your reported income was, if you feel comfortable sharing. I'm just wondering if Citi thinks your TCL relative to income is already overextended.

Need a replacement for my CFU with 5% cashback on gas purchases bonus. Those two seem fit but wanted to check if Citi gives high CL as I know BoA does.
Never had an account with either of them.
Also, do either of Citi and BoA have any 5/24 rule bc I'm at 6/24

Citi gave me a fairly decent limit compared to my other cards, in addition you can ask for an increase without a hard pull. But there is no reason to spend more than $500 in a month on the Custom Cash so a high limit isn’t that necessary.

For dining, the CFU should always give 3% on dining, and assuming you do not have Preferred Rewards the CCR also only gives 3% so don't bother unless you have PR. For gas, you could just get the CCC - how much more than like 500$ can you spend on gas?
