In the market for a Dyson and ONLY a dyson. I’ve had one of their roomba type models before (the robo vac situation) and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it got severely damaged during my move so I wanna buy another. Thing is, I’m not sure the roomba style is the best for this house, there’s a lot of furniture close together, it’s not as open a space. Looking for a cordless vac cos I love Dyson’s quality but there’s lots of different options so i’m kinda overwhelmed. The space is kinda cramped and there’s a lot of dust in Arizona so need something that I can maneouver around easily and has insane suction. Any reccs?
TL;DR
Dyson cordless vac reccs for cramped spaces
Update: I have come across this article on list of top Dyson cordless vacuum and it helped a lot. Thanks everybody.
Looking to finally grab a Dyson cordless but I’m lost in all the versions (V8, V10, V11, V15, etc.). Mostly hardwood + a couple rugs, need good battery life and suction for pet hair.
Are the newer models (V11, V15, Gen5) really that much better or is something like the V8/V10 still solid? Prices are steep, so I don’t want to overpay for hype.
If you have got one, which model do you swear by? Or is there a non Dyson that beats them?

If you own one, which model do you swear by? Or is there a non-Dyson option that actually beats them?
First time poster here - I'm currently looking at getting a Dyson cordless stick vacuum, but can't seem to decide among all the different models.
I'm leaning towards an Absolute model (V8, V10 or V11) because our main floor is all vinyl flooring, but the upstairs is entirely carpet. Plus, we have a pet, so the mini motorized tool seems necessary for furniture.
In people's experience, is the soft roller head necessary for vinyl/hard floors, or can you get away with just the regular head on vinyl? I've heard that the power on the V10's and V11 are decent enough that they should vacuum up small stuff without needing the soft roller head. Thanks in advance!
I have a V10 and can completely vacuum my entire 2300 sq ft home on a single charge. I use medium mode upstairs for the carpets and it gets everything out and low mode for the hardwood downstairs. I have the soft roller head and use it downstairs. You could get away with using the normal cleaning head on both the carpets and vinyl but I tend to get better results with the soft roller on hard floors. I also have a dog that sheds quite a bit and the V10 performs wonderfully.
The jump from v10 to v11 is small
The jump from V8 to v10 is huge
Soft roller is a must-have for any non-carpeted floor

I'm seeing that Dyson V15 is rated as the best cordless vacuum (https://vacuumwars.com/vacuum-wars-best-cordless-vacuums/), but most Redditors say to avoid Dyson due to durability/longevity concerns. However, if I buy from Costco, I'm guessing that concern is less concerning.
What cordless vacuum should I buy instead?
Are the newer Gen5Outsize and Gen5Detect significantly better?
I’m looking for the best cordless Dyson vacuum. I have three cats and two dogs. Which is the best without considering price?
I have a two bedroom apartment, mostly faux wood with just three area rugs. It’s just me. Currently no pets, but may get one in the future. I do have long hair.
I would prefer to not have to hold down a trigger. Prefer HEPA. Not in the budget for more than $500. Maybe I’ll find a sale next week.
Also wondering how long you’ve had yours!
Looking for a best all around (mostly carpet) cordless vacuum that hopefully is light as well, just not as expensive as a dyson but comparable power. Any recommendations?
Take a look at the Hoover Onepwr Hepa Cordless Upright BH55500PC $299 and the Simplicity Cordless Freedom Upright $699. Both are full size full power, shout out to Julie T., upright vacuums that have lithium batteries. Both have huge Hepa bags and are very light weight machines and even lighter weight in the hand. Neither has a hose or tools but can out clean any stick vac on carpets.
I want to learn this kind of shot! Teach me.
Hello, I have a small 700sq ft apartment with laminate floors and two cats. Would like recommendations on which cordless Dyson version to get. Thank you
Was looking at various sales this past weekend and wanted to understand the differences between models so I made a quick at a glance comparison chart for the Dyson v8, v11, v12, v15, and Gen5 (newest) + variants. If you have additional information about models or a key comment / when features were added, just mention it in the comments and I'll try to keep this updated.

General vs Absolute: The main difference between the models is the built in crevice tool into the want and a more advanced HEPA filter due to a change in EU HEPA standards. Absolute has .01 micron filtration (cyan blue filters), where the old one has .03 filtration (purple filters). I would suggest buying the absolute version due to the better HEPA filter and the connivence of the built in crevice tool. If anyone knows of other differences, please let me know.
General vs Outsize: Outsize Dysons are a larger format of the version provided. They allow for longer runtimes, extra capacity, and usually have larger versions of the cleaner and motorbars. The suction should theoretically be similar as the power of the motor is increased as well. This variant would be well suited to cleaning a large house in one go compared to having to swap batteries and empty the canister, as well as reducing cleaning time due to the larger motorbar heads. (Important to note, you would not want to attempt to purchase the larger size motorbars for non outsize versions as it would likely reduce suction)
Airwatts (AW): Air watts are calculated using the formula, (Air Flow (in CFM) x Vacuum (in inches of water lift))/8.5 = Air Watts. Dyson uses this to determine the suction power of the vacuum, but some argue this may be misleading.
Submarine Attachment Note: Dyson mentions on their website that the Dyson Submarine attachment is NOT compatible with other Dyson cordless vacuums as the Submarine version is a wet and dry vacuum. The attachment is not for sale to the general public.
Hello, I’m thinking to buy a cordless vacuum and I’m overwhelmed with options. I mostly have hardwood floors with a small rug and a cat that sheds a lot. I don’t need fancy features, just something that works well, lasts, and isn’t crazy expensive.
A few things I’d like to know from people who actually use them:
Average battery life for real cleaning sessions?
Performance on carpets vs hardwood?
Maintenance tips to keep suction strong?
Any recommendations or personal experiences would be really appreciated.
I'm moving from a small apartment to a 2-story house next month and my current corded vacuum is on its last legs anyway. I'm tired of dealing with cords and want to go cordless, but I've heard mixed things about their power.
Looking for the best cordless vacuum that doesn't lose suction after 5 minutes and can handle both hardwood and carpet. I have a dog who sheds like crazy so pet hair performance is crucial.
Budget is around $300-500. I've seen Dyson everywhere but they're expensive - are they actually worth it or is that just marketing? Also considering Shark and some other brands.
What are you all using? Does anyone have experience with multiple brands they can compare?
Hey,
I'm planning to get my very first cordless vacuum cleaner, because my regular vacuum cleaner is just taking up too much space and effort to use it. I'm also planning to get a pet so I'd need to use it much more often than now. I've always heard Dyson is the king of this category and I'm willing to pay the premium if it really last long and can find spare parts even after years of usage. Also heard about the Xiaomi Mi G10 as an alternative. What's your opinion?
Considering a Dyson stick vacuum. With so many models out there, which one offers the best value for its features?
I’m looking for vacuum cleaner recommendations with a budget of up to $400. I have a medium-sized house with a mix of carpet and hardwood floors, so I need something that can handle both well. Ease of use is important to me.. lightweight, easy to maneuver, and not overly complicated. I’d love to hear what you’re using and what’s been a real lifesaver for you. Also not sure whether a canister or a stick vacuum would be better for me. Curious what you recommend and why you chose what you’re using.
Edit: Thanks everyone for recommendations. I ended up getting Miele Classic C1 Turbo. It was mentioned a lot.
