The dryer has a shitty moisture sensor and occasionally the laundry is still wet at the end of cycle. That is annoying. I wanted lg but they were out of stock 2 years ago so I ended up with the whirlpool set. They are cheaply made with lots of plastic but for this price you can't expect better. I prefer the stackable rather than the combo. When I used a single combo unit back in the day, I have realized it takes a while for my clothes to dry because the washer was adding more humidity to be dried on top of the wet clothes. Also, I like the option of running both at the same time as I often run multiple batches. Like, put in another batch to wash while the first batch is drying. Saves time. More on reddit.com

Hailer and GE are the same (Hailer purchased GEs appliance division in 2016 and can use the GE name until the 2050s). Speed Queen does not make one, so to my knowledge, the only other ones out their in addition to GE and Hailer are LG and Whirlpool. None really inspires confidence. More on reddit.com

I’m about to buy my first washer and dryer and am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices. Within our budget (~$1500/set) I think I’ve narrowed the best brand down to Whirlpool. I’m still torn between front load or top load. Does anyone have any experience with one or both of these sets?
We like front load for the energy savings and being more gentle on clothes. But dislike the chance of nastiness building up and the fact that the chrome color for this set is out of our budget (color isn’t a huge deal though).

We like top load for the larger capacity, color, and from what I’ve read they’re easier to repair on your own. These also have more/better ratings than the front load set. Dislike the energy costs and being tougher on clothes (are top load impeller washers still harsher on clothes?).

Biggest piece of garbage I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to use!! It takes excessive hours to wash and dry anything compared to seperate washer dryers, and it still manages to come out damp. My advice would be to stay away from washer/dryers and buy them separately. At least then you can wash and dry at the same time if multiple loads, rather than waiting forever for one load.

May 16, 2019 - One of the models did release a good amount of humidity into the room though. Not sure if that was typical or whether it was a defective unit. I suspect, if you start a load before going to bed at night, it's convenient to come back to clean and dry clothes. But if you wash during the day, a conventional dryer is more convenient.

My husband and I are buying a new house and the utility room where the Washer and Dryer hookups are is very narrow, as in, we would need to purchase a stackable washer/dryer (we will also probably flip the hinges on the door so it opens out as to not bump into the washer/dryer). We were fine with that, but the thought never occurred to me that they make washer/dryer combos now! The prices of the ones (all-in-one vs. stackable) we’re looking at are not much different. Size are different by .5 cu. ft. which I’m not too worried about either.
So my question is if anyone has any experience with the combos? Are they good/worth it, or are they nothing but problems? Avoiding Samsung at all costs of course, lol.

I think all in ones got a bad reputation because the early ones were bad, but I love the GE heat pump one. You have to change your approach to doing laundry a bit, but it’s great to be able to load it before bed or work, set a timer, and have clean, dry clothes when you wake up or get home. To me, it’s like a modern dishwasher: the total time is long, but it’s not active time, so I don’t really care.
