December 14, 2021 - The gradient area has tons of grey pixels. If you use that as a mask, you will be partially selecting those grey pixels. They won't be black. If you have a dark background you'll see the blurry edge as grey instead whilst the center will remain black. Op wants the pixels to be fully black but have gradating transparency. Your method achieves the transparency but not the black colour. Clipping a black layer to it will fix, or removing white layer matte etc
