By the end of Wicked it is set up that Fiyero would become the scarecrow and Boq would become the tin man. But who would become the cowardly lion?
Am I the only one confused on why people are having a hard time thinking about how they’re gonna tie up the Scarecrow storyline from the Wizard of Oz and Wicked? They could just explain he was pretending to follow along to Dorothy’s plan just so he could get to Elphaba and explain what was going on, and fake her death with her. Seems like an easy fix to me lol.
One thing I am actually concerned about is how they’re gonna make the Coward Lion be against Elphaba since she helped set him free and is clearly on a mission to help the animals (such as him) of Oz. What are your thoughts about this?

I was watching the movie, and maybe this was obvious to everyone else, but it crossed my mind when they released the lion 'No! He was raised in captivity! He won't survive out there!' just instinctively, seeing everything as an actual forest and actual lion just changed my thoughts process.
Now obviously animals are more human like in this film, so he would have survived, but it made me think. The new professor did say being raised in captivity makes animals unable to speak....
What if being caged during formative years gave the lion a speech impediment and his mild nature?
Idk if this was obvious to everyone else, but seeing the animals as actual animals instead of hybrids made things make a little more sense.
When he hides behind the tree - who is he scared of?
They seem to take him off school grounds, they have their moment, and then Fiyero says he better get the cub to safety and dashes off but I assume there isn't a local lion rescue org nearby. Do we know what he does with the little guy?
I know that the cub becomes the Cowardly Lion but do the books or the musical say what happens him after his rescue?
Hi! I saw the wicked broadway show a while ago and remember the showing of how the Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and the Lion were created. I know the movie is only part one, but wasn't that backstory also part of part one? Did they take this out of the movie.
Ok I’m having a tough time properly phrasing the question, my words aren’t wording right now so forgive me.
What i mean is, does the scarecrow know that the tin man is Boq? Does the tin man know that the scarecrow is Fiyero? Are they just pretending to not know each other for the sake of Dorothy, or do they really just not recognize each other and assume they’re strangers?
I guess that includes the wizard too since Fiyero worked for him. Does he not know that the scarecrow is his once trusted captain of the guard (or whatever he was)?
In the musical, Boq seems to know who the cowardly lion is and his backstory with Elphaba, or at least the version they believe where she kidnapped him instead of saving him.
Maybe that question will be answered in part 2, idk. I’m just wondering if maybe it’s mentioned anywhere in the book or something?
I didn’t see anyone cast on Part 2’s IMDB page for the voice of the Lion. Who do y’all want to voice the Lion, or who do you think is likely? How ironic would it be if no one was cast because he didn’t have any speaking lines?
EDIT: I haven’t seen the musical since 2009, and I don’t recall most of Act II so I don’t remember if the Lion had any speaking roles then.
Was the cub they used int he show real and does it become the Cowardly Lion?
Either I missed the Cowardly Lion at the end or they didnt show him, I did hear Fiyero talking to him though
Mdm Morrible's acting felt a bit stiff like she held herself back acting wise?
Elphaba's sister's death and what happened after Boq turning into a tinman were not developed enough-- it was just touch and go and that's it
Why must Elphaba die to bring peace to city of Oz? Or is it her broom that's the issue
I felt that Glinda was quite selfish? Like she sings about how she cherishes her friendship with Elphaba but not cherishable enough to put aside her pursuit to be "good and popular" to clear Elphaba's name and maybe they can live tgt?
The elphaba fiyero thing caught me off guard maybe that's why it's best for them and glinda to go their separate ways
Felt that the movie showcased Elphaba's character development more and her voice is so fking good? Glinda came forth as abit selfish/self centered to me
what are your thoughts on wicked 2 and j would love to hear your interpretations/opinions
Spoilers for part 2 of the movie if you haven't seen the stage musical.
So this is a question I've wondered for a while but in "March of the Witch Hunters" Boq is rallying the crowd to go hunt Elphaba and talks about his personal vendetta. But then he mentions the Lion:
"And the Lion also has a grievance to repay If she'd let him fight his own battles When he was young He wouldn't be a coward, today!"
Obviously this is the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz and the lion cub from Act 1 that she rescues with Fiyero but aside from propaganda, why would the Lion have an issue with her. She only interacted briefly with him when he was younger and helped him by freeing him from the cage? I'm pretty sure he'd still be a coward if he wasn't freed, plus he wouldn't be able to talk.
Is it just Boq spreading stupid propaganda or does the Lion actually blame her for some reason?
How exactly does Glinda take over?
The Wizard finds out Elphaba was his daughter and then Glinda just seemingly takes over from both him and Morrible?
That part confused me. Maybe I’ve missed something?
If not do you think this will be expanded more in the movie?
He gazes at Scarecrow* like he’s his dad. Which was eluded to during the deleted scene where Fiyero and Elphie were treating him like their baby.
