I’ve read in a few areas that Madame Morrible had involuntarily killed Nessa through the creation of the cyclone. Is it implied somewhere that the house falling in Munchkin land would just cause Elphaba to go and check on Nessa? Or was the intent to kill her in order to lure Elphaba out of hiding? My interpretation from the musical was her intent was murder. Thoughts?

If Madame Morrible wants to kill Nessarose why wouldn't she have just created a tornado and drop some structure ALREADY in Oz on her instead of conjuring it in a place like Kansas that she likely has no clue even exists??? Why would it be as calculated to pick up Dorothys farmhouse specifically?
I am just now a fan of wicked and i am kind of confused about this topic-
So i heard that Madame Morrible and The “Wizard” plan to harm Nessa to get elphaba’s attention, was the magic used for their original plan so powerful that the magic seeped into the our world and caused a tornado/portal to OZ?
And by pure chance the house just fell on Nessa, and Morrible and The Wizard were just like “didn’t mean to drop a house on her, but hey she’s hurt and it’ll definitely get Elphaba’s attention!”
It was shown that Madame Morrible's special sorcery was in controlling the weather, we even see her shoo away some storm clouds. So during Defying Gravity, couldn't she have just used her power to use the clouds or something to contain the just-beginning-to-use-her-power Elphaba as she is flying? Dumb... but at the same time I was thinking about it this morning 😅
Don't get me wrong, I loved loved LOVED the movie, I need to see it like 3 more times. And then the sing-along one in December!!
I’ve seen the musical and I’ve read the book. I love both for what they are but I have one nagging question. Why did Madam Morrible bring Dorothy to kill Elphaba? It was indirectly through a tornado so was Dorothy just a hapless bystander, along for the ride? Why a child? Was it the tornado that was intended to kill the witches? The subtext of both materials point to no. I guess I just don’t understand why and how Dorothy became an assassin.
After a year of me shouting this from rooftops, it seems like everyone is finally starting see it. Michelle Yeoh is an incredible actress but she is just so horribly miscast as Madame Morrible. I’ve been saying it since part 1. With her line delivery of “this distortion, this repulsion, this… wicked witch”. She cant sing and a lot of the menacing Madame Morrible lines do not come across as wicked. And i wish we would have gotten a proper casting for the character because hearing somebody else scream “this distortion, this REPULSion, this… WIICCKKKEEEEEDDD WITCHHH” just like the stage version would have been extremely chillifying in the theatres. This casting is almost as bad as Russell Crowe as Javert in Les Miserables.
