Hi! I've been having some trouble with my laptop lately, and I'm just looking for someone to consult it online wise since I am a college student and I don't really have the money to have it fixed nor I have any knowledge about fixing it.
My issue is that it keeps beeping (short high pitched beeps) at the start up and the keys won't work, fortunately I can still open it with the help of floating keys but it takes a few try for the pin to appear even if I'm clicking it. A friend of mine said that it could be a hardware problem or a RAM issue.
The model of my laptop is Lenovo Ideapad 3 14ALC6 and the processor is AMD Ryzen 3 5300U with Radeon Graphics, 2600 Mhz, 4 Core. It runs under windows 11 version 10.022631 and I ran a memory diagnostic test earlier and it didn't detect any problems. Can anybody help me?
My thinkpad’s screen is not turning on and it gives a beeping sound. My laptop fell (no visible damages) and I thought the problem could be from the LCD chip not being plugged into the screen all the way (the chip that’s tapped to the back of the screen. I replugged it in and it still isn’t turning on. Any tips?
It’s a ThinkPad E15 Gen 2. Screen is completely black and makes a loud beeping sound every few seconds. I tried holding the power button down to force a shut down but it makes a different beeping sound instead and nothing else happens. After I release the button it goes back to the initial beeping sound. This has been going on for like half an hour now, please help. I want to at least just turn it off so I can sleep lol.
Hi AnonymousJD -
I'm Jerico T., I understand that you're having some issues right now, I'll do my best to help you with your concern.
Beeping on your computer usually indicates a hardware issue. Kindly try to check if there are any dirt on the cooling areas of your computer. Also, try to unplug your RAM then plug it back in, do this also to your hard drive.
Please let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Jerico T.
Didn’t work
I think this goes in software? I’m not entirely sure what happened, what’s wrong, and why it stopped working and I tried looking into beep codes but I truthfully have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to pcs. Anything is so helps and I really appreciate it yall!
Hello!
Corruption of computer files such as the BIOS/UEFI firmware or Windows components is common and can happen for a long list of reasons. Most of the time it is not possible to trace the cause. A common cause is a tiny spike or dip in power going into the computer so fast that only a computer would notice, causing it to glitch. Most grid power is "dirty", meaning that there are tiny spikes and dips all the time that are so fast that most electronics never notice, but on occasion they can cause crashes. Since there is nothing monitoring the power at this fine of level there is no way to tell if this happened.
Having this fixed by a technician is probably the best way to go. While this might be a BIOS/firmware issue, it is more likely that the motherboard or some other component has failed outright and needs to be replaced.
I hope the repairs go well.

Hello!
My name is David N., and I am a Windows fan who assists others with issues in this community. I will be happy to assist you with your issue.
From the description it sounds as if you BIOS/UEFI firmware for your computer is corrupted. The beeps are motherboard error codes and the checksum error points to the BIOS/UEFI firmware failing a check to see if it is intact and functioning correctly.
To resolve this, you will need to go to the manufacturer of your computer (or if it has been replaced or was assembled from parts, the motherboard) and check for BIOS updates. Installing one of these should give you an uncorrupted BIOS/UEFI and resolve the issue if the hardware is still intact.
Follow their instructions for upgrading the BIOS to the latest firmware. If you have difficulties you will need to contact their support team for assistance.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if this resolves your issue or if you require additional assistance.
