Got a notification on my Windows Netflix app that an update is coming and downloads won't be a thing anymore on PC. There goes taking my laptop on flights loaded with Netflix shows
Ok, so I haven't tried using Netflix on my laptop for a few weeks, and surprise surprise...looking to download some Christmas movies to watch at my leisure....only to discover that, the download option is no longer available for desktop, and is only for mobile devices.
Like really? why ??
Mobile devices typically have smaller screens than computers. It's a lot more comfortable to watch a movie on the computer.
Not everyone has 24/7 internet connection, the download feature was very good. I don't understand the logic of this decision.
Hello Aju_8, thank you for reaching out to us today.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with downloading and using Netflix on both your laptop and PC.
There could be several reasons for this issue, and I'll provide some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve it:
- Check for App Updates: Make sure that the Netflix app is up-to-date on both your laptop and PC. Sometimes, outdated apps can cause problems. Go to the respective app stores (Microsoft Store on Windows, and App Store or Google Play Store on your laptop) and check for updates for the Netflix app.
- Check Internet Connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection on both devices. Streaming and downloading require a good connection, so make sure you are connected to the internet and that there are no issues with your network.
- Clear App Cache (Mobile Devices Only): If you are trying to download Netflix on a mobile device, clearing the app's cache can sometimes resolve issues. Go to the app settings, find Netflix, and clear the cache. Keep in mind that this option is not available on laptops or PCs.
- Disable VPN or Proxy: If you are using a VPN or proxy service, try disabling it and then attempt to download Netflix again. Some VPNs and proxies may interfere with the app's functionality.
- Check Device Compatibility: Ensure that your laptop and PC meet the minimum requirements for running Netflix. Check Netflix's official website for system requirements and compatibility information.
- Reinstall Netflix App: If the app is still not functioning correctly, try uninstalling it from your laptop and PC, then reinstall it from the official app store.
- Contact Netflix Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's best to reach out to Netflix customer support. They may have insights into any known issues or can provide specific troubleshooting steps for your situation.
Remember, the Netflix subscription cost is not wasted during technical issues like this.
Netflix understands that users may face problems from time to time, and they usually offer customer support to help resolve them.

Hi!
Thank you for taking your time out to reply!
The problem here is that I do not have the Netflix app downloaded. I can't download it because the Microsoft store does not have it when it should have.
It seems like this is true. You can't download Netflix content for offline viewing on a Windows machine. Is that right??? How is that possible? Any help? Is downloads only accessible on devices like phones/tablets?
Help! Why can't I download my movies from Netflix anymore? There seems to be no more prompt. I'm a truck driver's wife and we depend on this feature while out on the road. IS this a glitch or is it something permanent? Anyone else had any issues?
