Emma Corrin Is Fine With Not Playing Diana to the Bitter End - The New York Times
September 29, 2021 - Fans and critics were generally taken with Corrin’s turn, which displayed a charming, grounded accessibility and grace that mirrored Diana’s public image and offered a sympathetic portrayal of her often chaotic personal life. Corrin, 25, has since followed the accolade-laden path of an earlier “Crown” breakout star, Claire Foy, whose performance as a young Queen Elizabeth II nabbed her two Screen Actors Guild awards, a Golden Globe and an Emmy before she was replaced by Olivia Colman as an older Elizabeth.

Becoming Diana: Emma Corrin on playing the Princess of Wales in Season 4 of The Crown | CBC News
October 12, 2020 - The irony carries mixed emotions for Corrin, the 24-year-old British actor who plays Diana in Season 4 of the show, which launches Nov. 15. "It's more and more strange as it gets closer to it. I'm very scared of losing my anonymity," Corrin said in an interview from London. "I think I have very much taken it for granted up until this point and maybe thought of fame and being in the public eye as quite a fun, silly thing that would accompany this amazing job that I'm very lucky to have."

r/TheCrownNetflix on Reddit: Emma Corrin’s Diana
January 21, 2024 -

After watching Elizabeth Debicki’s masterful portrayal of Diana in seasons five and six, I went back and watched season four’s Diana played by Emma Corrin. It was a performance I loved at the time, but after seeing Debicki, I felt that Emma Corrin’s performance felt caricaturish (is that a real word?) at times. Their mannerisms and body language didn’t have a natural flow like Debicki's. It came off as too rigid and practiced. It became very obvious that she is playing Diana rather than being Diana, if that makes sense. The press meet scene after the engagement, especially, stood out to me.

Is it just me, or do any of you guys feel this way?

October 25, 2020 - Corrin also spoke to Patrick Jephson, Diana's private secretary. "He knew her very well and was able to provide a lot of insight, which was wonderful." With Diana, Brioux suggested, there may be more pressure on an actor than if the portrayal was of a person not so well-known. Emma Corrin: ‘I ended up having an overwhelming appreciation for Diana's complexity’ | The Crown | The Guardian
December 15, 2022 - Corrin, whose agent had instructed her that this was definitely not an audition, went down well with the director: after she’d read as Diana, he took her outside and asked if she would like to work on the character a bit – and eight months later, she got a call asking if she would like to audition properly for Morgan. “In a way, it’s unfair to say that Emma was born to play Diana,” he writes to me in an email.

November 12, 2020 - Akin to Diana stepping through the ring of fire at Balmoral in Episode 2 (all right, maybe not quite as intimidating), Corrin was a newcomer to a “Crown” cast that already had a full season together. “I came in as Emma to a very established group of people, most of them insane household names, and I think it played to my advantage in crafting this character and how she would have felt,” she says.

Answer (1 of 13): Let me start by saying I think Emma Corrin is fantastic and very watchable. Her performance is completely inaccurate which I don’t think is her fault but is the result of poor direction. It is more of a stage performance and captures none of the grace and movement of the Young ...
