Can't get my 2nd monitor to work all off a sudden. In Nvidea control panel the box for the monitor is unchecked but i can't check it for some reason.
However windows can still identify the screen in systems.
I am so confused.
The Windows 11 Pro v.22H2 desktop PC has an ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition using driver version 546.33 from 2023-12-12. The specs claim:
1x HDMI 2.1, 3x DisplayPort 1.4a, Multi Monitor 4
- https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3090-3090ti/
DisplayPort GPU -> DisplayPort monitor LG 27GP83B-B (works)
HDMI GPU -> HDMI monitor LG 24ML44B-B (works)
DisplayPort GPU -> HDMI 1.4 monitor LG 24ML44B-B or HDMI 2.0 monitor LG 27GP83B-B (doesn't work)
The monitors are interchangeable. They work with HDMI output to either of their HDMI input ports, or DisplayPort output to DisplayPort input, with and without other monitors being connected.
I cannot detect any monitor HDMI inputs from any of the 3 GPU DisplayPort outputs nor the motherboard DisplayPort output using the Windows 11 Settings > Display > Multiple displays > Detect, nor the NVIDIA Control Panel > Display > Set up multiple displays, nor is it listed in the Device Manager > Monitors, nor will it display the bios if I boot that instead of Windows.
I have attempted to use a brand new Insignia DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and Insignia DisplayPort to HDMI Cable. The packaging says it converts DisplayPort output to HDMI input, which is the correct direction.
The PC and monitors can each work in some way. Everything has power and is turned on. The monitors get set to the correct input. The computer has been frequently rebooted. I have tried rolling back and updating display drivers. I have tried disabling the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
What next?
Are both DisplayPort-to-HDMI dead on arrival out of box?
Have I missed something about [backwards?] compatibility and converting DisplayPort PC output to HDMI monitor input?
Thank you for any thoughts.
Hi Lynn,
I tried different display ports, updated the drivers for my monitor and graphics cards and the problem persists. Everything works fine with Windows 10 but not Windows 11. Frustrating to have to continue to roll back. PC Healthcheck says it should work. Wish it did.

Hi SamRabinowitz,
Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community.
It sounds like you got an error "no signal from display port" when upgrading your Windows to Windows 11. This can be caused by the display port connection, monitor or graphics card.
So I advise that
- Check the display port and change another cable to connect and see the effect. If it's possible, change a monitor as well to see if the problem is still there.
- Hold down Windows + X and open Device Manager > Expand Display Adapter > Select the graphic card > Right click it and select Properties > Click Uninstall > OK > And then access the brand official website to download the latest version of graphics driver to install it to your Windows.
Note: Ensure that you have run PC health check app and the result is that the system meets the requirements before updating.
Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

I got the problem with only one monitor, using display port...
It's true that I've used 2 monitor to check if it was the display port cable or display por connector or the monitor, but with 2 monitors (one hdmi and another display port) it works very well with dual screen... and yes, I can switch display port as primary or secondary... it works ...
As I explained, when using only 1 monitor using display port, and re-installing windows 11 (just to check it form scratch) the computer is shown in the monitor very well (bios, post/boot, windows 11 usb installation wizard, configuration, device preparation, etc.) but I reach a moment (after asking me for the User) that the monitor seems to 'switch off' or something like that, because monitor remains On but showing nothing on screen... and the computer seems to keep working but without showing anything on screen...
Before re-installing I had HDMI cable and I noticed this mistake when I changed it to display port... nothing on screen but I was able to acces thorugh remote desktop to the computer...
It seems windows 11 is not working well with display port
Hi, my name is Anderson Souza, I hope I can help you with your issue.
First, it is important to check that your system already has all the latest updates installed, go to Start menu > Settings > Windows Update, check and apply all updates.
After installing the pending updates and restarting the computer, go back to the same Windows Update screen and click Advanced Options > Optional Updates, also apply the optional updates and restart the PC.
Check if the problem persists.
