All you need to do is go to the activation portion of Settings, hit Change Key, enter your Pro key, and enjoy. It unlocks all the Pro features. I recommend buying your key from a major retailer with physical storefronts like BestBuy as they are not likely to be selling the non-genuine copies. Online market places like Amazon and Ebay have such a wide variety it is difficult to figure out what is actually genuine. !cheapkey u/No_Class7536 Answer from Froggypwns on reddit.com

r/WindowsHelp on Reddit: Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro. How?
June 7, 2023 -

I want to upgrade my new laptop that has Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro.

I dont know if I should freshly install it, or buy a windows 11 pro license key. Since I see a lot of people saying if it has preexisting windows 11 it is embedded. What does it mean? I cant see documentation with Windows about it.

Plus, if you recommend to upgrade using license key to pro, where is the cheapest to buy but still genuine?

Just buy a Product Key because it will unlock all of the Pro features and it'll look like it's doing a big Feature Update from Windows Update. All of the features are already there, they're just "dormant" in the Home edition. So unlocking the Pro edition simply unpacks them and installs them. You will never find a genuine Product Key for less than the normal retail price. This includes the slightly lower price of the System Builder's edition, which is "OEM". "Embedded" means the Product Key is embedded in the motherboard, which results in automatic activation. It doesn't matter here though. Entering a Product Key for Windows 11 Pro will convert your installation of Windows 11 Home into Windows 11 Pro. Make no mistake about this: it's not an upgrade. Yep, I just said it's not an upgrade! An upgrade is when you replace something with something better. An upgrade is an improvement. Windows 11 Pro isn't better than Windows 11 Home, and it's not an improvement over the Home edition. It's just a different edition, and it was designed for businesses. So don't do this if you simply think that the Pro edition is better than and/or an improvement over the Home edition. 99% of normal consumers have everything they need with Windows 11 Home. I'm only saying that because it's $200 for a Windows 11 Pro license. So if you're going to buy it, then make sure you know it's worth it! Here are all the features that Windows 11 Pro has that Windows 11 Home doesn't: Mobile device management Group Policy Enterprise State Roaming Assigned Access Dynamic Provisioning Windows Update for Business Kiosk mode Active Directory/Azure AD Source: https://www.xda-developers.com/windows-11-home-vs-windows-11-pro If all you're doing this for is to get Group Policy Editor, then don't. It's not worth it! I thought it was going to be worth it, but now I never use it! I haven't done anything with Group Policy Editor. So that's $200 down the drain. I feel stupid. I basically paid $200 for Group Policy Editor thinking "oh hell yeah I'm going love this!" smh Yes, this is why you're asking for a cheap Product Key. Right? As Froggypwns showed you with "!cheapkeys", don't do it. It's not worth the risk of losing your license to use Windows 11 Pro without any warning. Edit: lol oops I didn't know the command could be put anywhere in the post. I thought it would only work if it's at the end of it.

Currently I have Windows 11 Home Single Language.

I got product key of Windows 11 Pro (new, genuine, unused).

But when i change the activation key via Settings>System>Activation It always says Unable to upgrade your edition.

I even tried using generic key first (there's a post in internet to first use the generic one (ending with 3V66T) while disconnected to internet then try) but that also gave same error.

I also tried download .iso file of windows, mounted it but it also installs the edition which i already have.

What is the way to upgrade the windows?

r/WindowsHelp on Reddit: Upgrade new pc from 11 Home to 11 Pro without logging into Microsoft account?
October 25, 2024 -

I just purchased a new windows 11 home desktop and need to upgrade to 11 pro. I was unaware that may require using a microsoft account but I would like to keep the account local. I am reading that this isn't possible. If I were to proceed to log in to MS account and following through with 11 Pro upgrade, am I able to remove the Microsoft account and revert to local account with no activation issues? Or are there any other workarounds like purchasing an 11 pro upgrade key through another retailer that doesn't require a MS account?

To create a local user account in Windows 11 Home, you can do the following: Select Start > Settings > Accounts Select Family & other users Select Add account next to Add other user Select I don't have this person's sign-in information Select Add a user without a Microsoft account Enter a user name, password, or password hint Select Next Once completed go offline (remove wifi or ethernet) Input this Windows 11 Pro Upgrade Generic Key W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX Wait for upgrade to finish You can connect internet once again once on desktop You now have Win 11 Pro Local no MS Account. Activation will be needed after this isnt a retail key, It is an upgrade only key you will need to activate Windows 11 Pro with a purchased serial or other activation methods. (cracks, kms, digital activation etc)

r/Windows11 on Reddit: Best/Cheapest way to upgrade to Win11 Pro
December 4, 2024 -

I hope this post is relevant to the sub, if not please let me know. I just got a new laptop and it comes with Windows 11 Home. I want to upgrade it to Windows 11 Pro, and when I go through the settings, it redirects me to Microsoft store, where it currently shows $139 for upgrade, that is a bit too overpriced for me. Is there any other official way to do this upgrade that is at least a bit cheaper?

I remember seeing $99 price for this upgrade a few months ago, is that correct, i.e. did they increase the price recently, or am I just misremembering?

To be clear, I'm not looking for "grey market" solutions/keys, so please do not recommend any website that is selling Windows keys of unknown origin.

Hi all, I'm running Windows 11 Home and it's been great for me. I do however like the advanced features available in Windows 11 Pro. After years, I've decided to upgrade to Pro.

I'm looking at doing an upgrade and not a clean install. Apart from that, I'd appreciate any advice and tips from Window 11 Pro users and really just things you wish you knew before you upgrade to Pro.

Much appreciated.

hey all - I really enjoy reading your posts and comments here. I'm an IT Dir. at a broke-ass non-profit. I though I'd save some money purchasing a half-dozen envy laptops with 11 home with the idea that I'd use techsoup to purchase licenses and install media for 11 pro. Turns out it's a nightmare. drivers missing, etc. Can't get very far in the upgrade.. googling and AI is only marginally helpful. I really need to put these devices in users' hands. Any help on this from people who are not dumb like me would be really appreciated. :-)

r/Windows11 on Reddit: Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrades has different prices....
May 20, 2025 -

Hey folks, first time posting here...

I'm an IT Tech and do Windows Home to Pro upgrades often. Usually what I do is on the PC that needs the upgrade I open the Microsoft Store and log in with a certain account that has a credit card tied to it.

Then I'll search in the store for the upgrade click the link to purchase the upgrade, do the purchase.

Then I'll have the option to do the upgrade by clicking a link on the store page. It does the in place upgrade, I restart the PC and now I've upgraded from home to pro.

When I do this it usually costs about $99.00 for the upgrade.

But this past week I've noticed that we've seen three different prices to do the upgrade exactly the same way I just described it above. I've seen $99.00 and I've seen $150.00 and $200. What also changed is it says that it is a home to pro upgrade for workstations. Before it did not use the word workstations.

So I'm really confused as to why the pricing is different, why they've added the word workstations and what's going on.

Does anyone have any idea???
