I know there is still a lot of time until then, but, I'm pretty curious what Microsoft's next step will be, after all, hundreds of millions of people will not throw away their computers in 2025 just because Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10.
I think in 2025 Microsoft will eliminate their delusional requirements and release Windows 12 as an update for everyone, even computers that do not support Windows 11.
Thoughts?
Just watched this week’s Zac Bowden’s podcast… He just directly confirmed a “next Windows 11 update” is coming in April 2024.
Sadly, Windows 12 is dead, no longer happening. Instead, we are getting yet another Windows 11 feature update.
Panos Panay leaving was the worst thing that could have happened…
Boring new year ahead for Windows.
I miss the 2000s and 2010s, the age before this WaaS stupidity…
Hello
Microsoft hasn’t confirmed a specific release date for Windows 12 yet. Everything else is rumor or speculation.
There's also no official word yet from Microsoft on exact hardware requirements for Windows 12.
That said, while future-proofing is wise, devices you purchase today could still put you in a good position. Even if Windows 12 introduces stricter requirements, your new Surface will likely last through vital support periods.
Thanks Emily, I understand you don't work for Microsoft. Hopefully you understand that's not the answer I'm looking for.
I'm already seriously annoyed that I have 3 perfectly good laptops that are all OVER specced for all of the requirements of Windows 11 with regard to Processor, RAM, SSD, etc. ... but they only have TPM 1.2.
The fact that I have to replace them all just because of the TPM version is absolutely infuriating.
In the past I have been able to rely on MS for at least 6 years of full OS support on any Laptop I've bought.
I'd like some reassurance from someone at MS that I'll be able to rely on them similarly ... especially because this time I'm actually buying an MS Laptop.
24H2 is still technically Windows 11, so WHEN is WIndows 12 or 13 or whatever coming out?
I am seriously looking for a more stabile and better performing windows, and win11 and 24H2 is just not cutting it. When is the next MAJOR windows operating system (numbered) gonna release, or any ideas when it is gonna release at least?
It hasn’t been like this since windows 3.1 I believe
Okay, so as we all know, the Windows 10 end of support is today. And for some reason, my Windows update page says "Your Windows has reached the end of service." but here's the weird part I'm using Windows 11 currently to type this Reddit post right now. I recently got my computer upgraded by a nearby computer shop for like $150
Edition Windows 11 Home

Hi, My name is Estrella, and I'm a Microsoft user like you. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I'll be more than happy to help.
Many users have recently reported the same issue after applying recent updates, and it appears to be a bug. 23H2 will still be supported until November 2025: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/pro...
For now, I suggest reporting this to Microsoft via the Feedback Hub app (press Windows + F).
Don't worry, it's definitely Microsoft they got it wrong.
I have the same version, but I haven't received this message.
The end of service for Windows 11 Pro version 23H2 is November 11, 2025.

The Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 22H2 reached the end of their service on October 8, 2024. This means Microsoft is no longer providing security updates or general support for this specific version.
Download and install Windows 11 Installation Assistant, this will help you upgrade your system to the latest supported version.
