After 5 years of use, my Windows 7 machine has started to feel a bit too cluttered, so I have decided to format it, replace one of its disks and start from scratch.
However, during the process I have noticed that most of the sites where I downloaded software for it have since changed/disappeared/not offering downloads anymore. So, I have been slowly collecting the programs I used to own through the Internet Archive.
But I wanted to know if there's a site that offers downloads for legacy OSes that you would recommend. I'm mostly looking forward to file/system utilities, preferably freeware.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Microsoft does not supply Windows 7 ISO downloads for OEM preinstalled operating system Product Keys for Dell, HP, etc. machines
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
You can borrow the exact same edition of Windows 7 Retail DVD and use your Product Key on the COA sticker to reinstall the operating system.

Or you can use this for preinstalled OEM or Retail Licenses. This is on a first come, first served monthly basis.
Download the correct ISO file and make your own disk and use the Product Key that is on the COA Sticker.

Download: Windows ISO Downloader.exe
And here are instructions on how to burn ISO images to disk:

You change the Boot Order in the BIOS to be able to boot from your installation media:

Then do a clean install:

The COA sticker is either on the underside of the Laptop or in the Battery Compartment.
With a Desktop it is either on the side, rear or top of the Computer Case.

Using the downloaded ISO file Method may require phone Activation.

The above method also will require you to go to your Computer Manufacturer's website > Support and Downloads Section > locate your Model Number and Operating System > then download and install the latest Drivers for it.

Cheers.
The error message is because Microsoft will not support, or supply ISO files, for OEM-licensed systems like yours.
The best solution is to go back to the shop that serviced your computer and tell them to reinstall the proper licensed copy of Windows 7.
If they refuse, you can download a ISO file for Windows 7 Home Premium by using the tool described below. You can create an installation DVD from the ISO file by using ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/) or an installation USB flash drive (if your VAIO can boot from USB) by using Rufus (https://rufus.ie/). ImgBurn and Rufus are both free. Once installed, use the product key from the COA sticker on your VAIO to activate Windows.
You can obtain a legitimate Windows 7 ISO file by using the download tool here: https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-and-office-iso-download-tool
If you are willing to use an ISO file from August 2018 (5.5 GB), you can download that immediately. However, if you want the original version, downloads are quite limited. Notes below from the Heidoc support forum.
- "The download database on the server will be reset on the first day of every month. We will then generate one link per hour on a first come first served basis, whatever is requested, until all licenses are used up. The database is then again reset on the first day of the following month, and downloads can be provided again for some time."
- "The Aug 2018 Win7 downloads are "standalone" edition downloads (only come with Home Premium, Pro & Ultimate as separate editions and not bundled together) that include IE11 & .NET 4.7.2 but are available in US English language only. all post sp1 updates except the big KB3125574 rollup update are included."
- "I suggest you use the original version (NOT Aug 2018) since it is the official one and it can be unlocked to become a multi-SKU disc image. The only downside is you have to install all updates after the installation." https://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/14731-is-it-just-me-or-is-the-official-client-fixed-resolutioned/
