Will probably need a new laptop in the upcoming months, was wondering if there were any rumors regarding the release of the surface latptop 8. I know snapdragon's new chips have not come out yet, which will probably limit when the SL8 drops, so wondering if I should just try to pick up the SL7 during a black friday deal.

Honestly, nothing concrete yet. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X parts hit market next year, and Surface Laptop updates usually trail by a full cycle, so late 2026 feels realistic for an SL8. If you need a machine soon, grab an SL7 on Black Friday, just get 16 GB RAM and call it good 😉

I'm a web developer and my laptop is a Lenovo i3 6thgen one from 2016. Currently running Windows 10. But it's not running Windows 10 smooth as before due to my laptop is getting outdated. Please don't suggest reinstalling windows and etc. Because I'm a person who know what I'm doing.
My questions is can I use Windows 8.1 safely in 2024. I know it's no longer supported. But if I run windows 8.1, it will run much smoother than Windows 10. I don't install crack software or clicking on random things, But even though I know what I'm doing, can I still get in trouble running outdated OS, because it's connected to the internet, let's say I'm only browsing safe websites, not install crack software, can I still get it trouble, This is my personal laptop and my router is only connected to my laptop, no other computers connected.
I want to know from experts, can I still get it trouble?

Best thing is to check if you already have an SSD. If not, upgrade your laptop with it. Then W10 should run fine.
