Check out bhldn.com. They’re an offshoot of Anthropologie, and have a couple stores around the city. My wife got hers from there, and spent much less than $500. They also have skirts and tops and whatnots to mix and match.

I would second BHLDN, I got my dress there and you'll have a good amount of options for $500. They don't have a store in Astoria though. Maybe talk to the owner of Loveday? She usually has some gems and she might have something that could be a wedding dress if you're okay with vintage. An inexpensive online option could be Lulu's, my bridesmaids got their dresses there and they have a whole wedding section. Plus free returns!
