Hello, I've wanted to change my headset with great mic quality recently, especially the wireless one, because I have a lot of wire stuff in my room, and sometimes it will all get tangled up which is quite annoying. I have do some research and found some options listed below:
Astro A50 Gen 5.
Corsair HS80. This is what I want to buy the most, the mic quality is very decent for a wireless headset IMO, and it also has a great price.
Blackshark v2 Pro 2023. Great mic quality, but I've heard that the build quality is terrible.
I can afford A50, but I still prefer to look for the cheaper option, because I don't really need the "best" one, one that is good enough will do for me. What do you guys think? Is HS80 great? or any other recommendation?
Whenever I use Whatsapp, Teams, Zoom or whatever with my wireless headphones the other person on the call always complains about the sound quality. So I end up switching back to a pair of old Apple wired headphones. The ones with the little tiny mic in the volume adjuster.
Even my partner's Apple Airpods don't sound as good as the 18€ Apple wired headphones. We did some A/B tests recording voice with them and the Airpods are just a bit thin / top-heavy compared with the cheap Apple Wired Headphones.
I have tried a few different ones, a cheap Sony pair, some bone conducting Shockz sport headphones, the Airpods (not Pro).
For me the primary purpose of the headphones is actually for calls video, audio etc.. and only secondarily music or podcasts. So while good music playback is important, the most important factor for me is the microphone quality.
Is it just physics? the volume button is essentially a lapel microphone, so its positioning means it will always give a better signal than any others?
