February 7, 2022 -
I have to buy a wireless mic system for three lavalier mics for a live interview setup. I thought it would be two people and was looking at Rode Wireless GO II, but it’s now been decided that it will be three people speaking. Anybody got any suggestions? Or would it be easiest to get Rode Wireless GO and GO II and connect both to the computer?

Depending where you are in the world, going for three 2.4Ghz systems like the Wireless Go's may be the only way to get 3 channels reliably without having to pay for licenses. The Wireless Go's and Go II's support something like 16 simultaneous channels and I would expect that combination would work fine; however they will be competeting with all other 2.4ghz wireless in the area such as WiFi and BlueTooth so actual available channels will vary based on where you're shooting. If you're shooting your live interview in a studio or a living room or whatever, that's something you can control for; but if you're doing it in a conference hall or auditorium, it's not - in that case renting 3 UHF mics with an appropriate channel license would be by far the more reliable solution. But the mix of the generations may cause unexpected issues, so ideally you'd probably want to buy either three 1st gen Wireless Go's; or 2 Go II's to ensure that they can communicate with each other and manage channels correctly. That's something that's probably worth running past Rode Support, as it's really a question for their engineers.
