Hello. I'm doing a school video project but I'm wondering if I should look into getting a cheap wireless microphone like a BOYA BY-V20 or just stick with the microphones on my iPhone. I heard they did get an upgrade to 4 studio microphones, but I just want to hear your guy's experience with them. especially used outside

Use your iPhone's mic with isolation mode on. Try it first prior to buying anything else.

Just test the iPhone built in microphone now by taking a video of yourself talking. Then in the photos app, click on the test video you made, click edit (the three horizontal slider icon), click audio mix, play the video, then click on standard, in-frame, studio, and cinematic to listen in real time the 4 different kinds of audio it can reproduce. This test takes 1 minute. For me, studio sounds the best and takes out background noises well, keeping the voice clear.

I've gone through microphone hell. I've tried the Movo VXR10, an amazon lav mic, Senheiser MXE 400, Senheiser MKE 600, and Rode Wireless Go II. Get the Wireless Go II, it's pricey, but WORTH IT!!! I've had about 5 videos ruined by poor mic performance.
