Looking for women's hiking pants with functional pockets
I agree this is a common problem. My favorite hiking pants are the women's horizon pant from Eddie Bauer. They have one good size zip cargo pocket, roll up for hot weather, and have held up great. I usually see them at outlets too, so you can probably avoid paying full price. If Prana would make a women's version of their men's Zion stretch pant those would be ideal. My guy friends love them and the fabric is amazing. More on reddit.com

You say you don’t want to hear about prana but I wore them the Halle II in Japan’s notoriously hot summer last year and they were fine for heat and humidity, walking miles a day outdoors in the sun. It was hot as heck but my legs didn’t complain. That’s my lived experience, in fact I worry they aren’t good for windy cold weather rather. The Halle II is so lightweight. I used to try SO MANY pairs and review them, and it was honestly way harder to find good ones that I expected. The whole reason for starting this search was that I couldn’t find a pair of hiking pants that fit me properly (waist and hips), that were flattering, durable, and comfortable, had deep enough pockets, and were LONG enough (probably my biggest issue, I’m 5’9” and they’re never long enough!!). I watched Kelby fit into just about every pair of pants he tried, meanwhile I would order so many pairs and they just didn’t fit right. Now I’ve made quite a few of these videos now focused on my favorite four pants, and they’ve all had different qualities I love. BUT in the past two years, I’ve found myself reaching for these far more than any other pair. These pants have remained durable and without snags or holes from climbing, sliding down snow on my butt, and getting rubbed up against rocks, etc. They are so stretchy but don’t stretch OUT, they’re warm and water resistant for these colder temps, and they make me FEEL GOOD. They’re also Kelby’s favorite pair of pants which is wild that the men’s and women’s are both so good. And they come in short, regular, and long!! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm not sure what other group I should ask. As the title of the post implies, I'm looking for women's hiking pants with actual working pockets. I work outdoors in an area that is very hot, but also very shrubby, so I'm also looking for something full length and breathable. I would like something with zippered cargo pockets so that I can carry (and not lose) my phone, truck keys, GPS, and whatever other small bits of field gear I have on me.
It's amazingly hard to find women's pants with cargo pockets big enough to fit a phone. I've looked at a bunch of major companies (columbia, north face, outdoor research, marmot etc) and found found that their men's pants look great and have everything I need, but the women's analogs tend to have either very small pockets or no pockets at all. I would just buy mens pants but I'm pretty small/short, so I wouldn't be able to find them in my size. It's getting pretty frustrating. Any tips for where to look would be very much appreciated.

I am asking because this Reddit post, did not give me the answer I am looking for.
*Specifically* for those of you who have hiked extensively in hot AND humid weather, what pants do you recommend that are ultra-quick-drying, light, and breathable? Think Hawaii, Florida, Panama...
Most folks don't have a lot of experience in this kind of weather and they think their average OR, LLBean, REI, Fjallraven pants are great, but the reality is most hiking pants are not breathable enough and take too long to dry when in the humid tropics.
If the description includes waterproofness/weather and abrasion resistant/durable, I'm not going to look at it. These factors are counterproductive for quick drying and breathable. Prana stretch zion is not a great pant for these factors.
I'm looking for that unique off-the-beaten path recommendation. I know I can google it, but I am looking for personal reviews of tried and tested versions.
Otherwise, I'll end up hiking with some dorky elastic waistband linen pants that are great, just not designed for hiking. When I wear these, I look more in place in a rice paddy than I do on a trail.
Please don't say shorts. I would rather cover myself up than lather up with sunscreen when it's this humid.

Not sure what's wrong with the linen pants if they work for you. Who cares what they look like?
