I have some lower rise Dovetails that fit great on bloat days. Not sure what retailers carry them in store where you are, but in Ontario, Mark's carries them. They have a multitude of fits in their clothing line, so it's worth trying them on, however I was happy with the info I could garner online when I ordered mine. Lots of reviews and tips on what body types etc. More on reddit.com

I am a woman in the trades and have been wearing carhartt pants for the last 5-6 years. The other day, I ordered a pair of pants and thought nothing of it. I immediately noticed that the new pants are extremely thin and are way bigger than they should be. I am a size 6 and the new style size 6 fits more like a 8-10….
The only pants I like are the Crawford original fit pants. I am assuming they do not make these anymore, which is such a shame. My other Carhartt pants lasted about six years. The first day I wore the new ones they ripped when they got caught on a nail.
I am planning on emailing Carhart and complaining to them. I’m sure my complaint will not make much of a difference, and will not bring back the pants I like.
I am wondering if anyone else has noticed how awful the pants are now…. I can’t be the only woman bummed out about this! Women deserve to have quality work pants!!!

Excepting a handful of the core styles in the men's lineup, Carhartt isn't making workwear anymore. Most workers aren't wearing workwear, they are wearing hoodies, lightweight jackets with synthetic shells, lighter weight jeans, etc. The customer base and a changing climate has pushed the trend away from firm brown duck heavy duty to plasticwear that can be replaced year after year. For men and women the bulk of the heavy duty workwear has shifted to smaller brands. Because the firm brown duck heavy duty market has shrunk significantly, prices are high to get what is now old school quality. Check out: Red Ants Pants . That brand caters specifically to women and makes a 12oz. duck pant. A few of my coworkers wear them and say those pants are what Carhartt should have made for women.

I want to buy my friend some work pants for Christmas. She is provided a uniform but has some complaints about the fit of the pants particularly around her waist.
She’s fit and curvy and short. Like 5 feet or so. Her weight fluctuates a bit but I’d guess she’s around 130 mostly and she experiences a lot of bloating so if they had a stretchy waistband I feel like that would be ideal.
My plan is to either give her a gift card or just take her shopping. I’m not about to guess on the fit but I’m hoping y’all have some suggestions on where to look. They need to be black or navy blue and cargo pockets are preferred.

Duluth Trading Co - the fire hose work pants. Carhartt pants are nice. Personally not fond of Dickies bc the slanted front pockets but they work in a pinch. These are just what I’ve tried - 6 years working in the field experience to try them all out and these are my personal favs that last and don’t break the bank
