Contractor says Wonderboard seams don't need to be taped, just covering with thinset is enough...
Any suggestions as to why use a backer/wonderboard instead of Kerdi board?
Hardie backer or wonderboard?
Anyone have experience with wonderboard?
What I expected was Wonderboard -> fill the screw holes -> tape the seams with alkali resistant tape + thinset -> cover the whole shower walls with redguard -> let everything cure -> coat again -> let it cure -> tile.
What happened:
Wonderboard -> cover screwholes with thinset -> cover wonderboard joints with thinset -> tile.
No redguard or waterproof membrane.
No way this is correct, right? Guy said that its different because it is wonderboard and not durarock.
I have some extra left over 1/2 inch kerdi that I am going to encase the fireplace surround in. veneer stone is what the client wants. Should I just get a few sheets of hardi board instead? TIA!
What’s the difference? Always used hardie backer.
What’s the difference between 1/4” and 1/2”?
Also, under the removed tiles on the ground, is some sort of thin plywood (which is on top of 3/4” plywood). Do I have to remove it or can I apply the hardie backer right on top? Mortar between wood and hardie backer?
