September 7, 2020 - I spaced the dowel such that the dowel would bottom out in the back piece and the knob just before being flush with the cabinet (there’s a little play front to back so the knobs can turn freely). Once spacing was right, I glued the knob onto the dowel and made sure glue didn’t squeeze out enough to glue it to the cabinet itself. If a little squeezes out, you can just turn the knob a bit every few minutes until it tacks up. Let me know how it turns out! ... Yes dude, thank you!! July 15, 2019 - Use 2 1/2″ wood screws from the top of the countertop and into each leg. Attach the countertop to the sink cabinet with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue. (I had to try all of the cute accessories on for size).

March 2, 2021 - I found oven replacement knobs on eBay for $7.80. We put on three- two for the burners and one for the oven. I have seen simpler oven knobs on other play kitchens made of wood, but I love the realistic version.

January 29, 2021 - On a trip to my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, I hit the jackpot with some inexpensive finds to complete the kitchen. I found some simple rounded silver handles for 50 cents each that were perfect for the doors, some wooden knobs that I thought would make cute oven knobs (pack of 5 knobs for $2!), and a drain hose ($6) and knob (50 cents) for the faucet.

January 25, 2024 - But I did make her a makeshift hot plate of sorts, so she has one burner to play with (instead of four space-hogging circles). What does she use it for? To fry sandwiches, apparently. All that little DIY hot plate entailed was buying a $5 trivet from Bed Bath & Beyond and a $4 round of wood from Michael’s (which I painted teal with leftover paint from this project) and then drilled into it in three spots (to allow the feet of the trivet to “sink” inside the wood round so it was nice and solid).

September 27, 2017 - We added a few plastic pipes for the faucet and painted wooden drawer knobs for the oven and sink controls. Two cupboard doors were added by using plywood and some simple door hinges.
