Where can I buy a solid wood top?
Wood vs laminate
There are several kinds of laminate. There is HPL which is High Pressure Laminate and LPL aka melamine. HPL is way more durable and more expensive than LPL. Most shops will try to pass off LPL as their laminate work surface.
Even big players like Haworth and Herman Miller are using it to save cost. However, I believe HPL is still the standard for Haworth.
IMO HPL is way more durable than wood. Wood will last longer because you can always refinish it but that's labor intensive.
From a cost perspective if I can sell you a 30x70 solid plank walnut at $650 or a walnut laminate for $150 you can easily make the argument that HPL is the way to go because you could replace it 4x and still be less than solid wood.
The core used for laminate is also important as cheap ikea tops use honey comb core while quality places use solid MDF. It's a very big misconception thinking solid wood will weigh more. If you are using 1.5" solid wood. 1 1/8 laminate with mdf core will often weight more as the mdf is way more dense than solid wood.
For looks, go with wood especially if you are willing to keep it maintained as it will last lifetime.

I want to get a standing desk frame and solid wood top separately, but I don’t know where to get a good wood tabletop.
(The wood tops from Uplift have 6mo delays, and Fully has limited selection.)
Where can I get a nice solid wood tabletop to attach to the frame? (Strongly prefer a company with a showroom in the NY area so I can see before I buy, or at least with mailable samples)
