My main granola focus is reducing the toxins my child is exposed to... With that in mind are there any recommendations for wooden, study, very safe (toxin wise and in general) play kitchens?
I’m not an expert on toxins but the ikea play kitchen is mostly wooden. Very minimal plastic. It’s quite sturdy but you can anchor it to the wall for peace of mind. It’s also affordable (compared to other kitchen sets) and there’s lots of inspiration online to jazz it up if you’re so inclined.
Look second hand on craigslist and marketplace for an IKEA one. We got ours for very little..then for fun we hacked it! You can go as green with that as you want. We took wood and old ceramic tiles to make a backsplash. Chalk paint for the refinish.
Second hand is Always best to me. For one, it has time to air out already because it isn't new, you're reusing and creating less waste. No worries about more packaging waste or shipping wastefulness and having that in your home. All the kitchens are going to have nontoxic paint and such. IKEA is known to be better in general and trying to improve in that regard, and to use recycled materials. So to me that's the best you can get besides making it yourself.
