Are any of the rolling knife sharpeners good?
Worksharp's other products are good so I'd think that their rolling sharpener would at least be passable, never seen anyone here use one though More on reddit.com
Work Sharp VS Horl 2 Rolling Knife Sharpener
First time i heard about this way of sharpening, that looks nice More on reddit.com
Whats the general opinion on the "rolling sharpeners" that are marketed everywhere. Good? Bad? Junk?
Personally i just use a 1x30 belt sander from harbor freight and a handful of different grit belts. Wayyyy faster and easier than any hand sharpener. I can also put a scalpel level edge on just about anything in a couple minutes. Total cost was around $75 including belts and polishing compound. Hand sharpeners take forever and take more skill. Are you set on a rolling sharpener? What are you planning on sharpening? The rolling sharpeners are not great for something like an EDC pocket knife. They're decent enough for kitchen knives but for the same price you can get two or three grits of Shapton splash and go stones that will be faster and more versatile, after you've learned to use them. For most pocket knives and outdoor knives a guided system like the Worksharp Precision Adjust will work a lot better. The precision adjust won't work for a skinny blade (e.g. a Case medium stockman or a CRKT CEO), but then neither would a roller.

December 2, 2023 - I tried water stones and I have trouble holding the angle, that's why I got this sharpener. I agree the blade up is a little scary but as long as you pay attention you should be okay. My knives are in decent shape so I only run the roller 4 times on each side and finish with 2 or 3 rolls on the ceramic side or finish with my steel. ... I've been looking at these as well.
