I suggest the 8. Prefer the 9. The 10 is the boss. If you can reach deep enough for the Ikon then it's a better knife for sharpening. Or look at the Messermeister Meridian Elite - priced like the classic with no bolster. More on reddit.com

6inch is cute and all but definitely go for the 8inch if this will be your main all purpose knife in your kitchen. The 6inch will be too small for some tasks however the quality should be the same More on reddit.com

I need help with Wüsthof Knives... is this a good set?

Usually I would suggest getting an 8 inch chef knife a cheaper 3.25 inch paring knife and a serrated knife. Those 3 would be able to do everything that this 15 piece set would minus having 6 or 5 steak knifes included. Since its hard to know weither the knife block set has the same knives as they sell standalone, who knows if this is a good deal or not. If youre set on a knife block set and you like the brand wusthof id go for it. But my advice would be to spend most of the 150 on a chef knife, 20 on the bread knife and 20 on the paring knife and I think youd be happy with those results. Maybe get one of those magnetic wall strips to hold them and learn to take care of them properly. More on reddit.com
