Personally, it would be an X-T5… really not much larger than an X100VI, but much more flexibility in terms of interchangeable lenses. Keep in mind your 10-18mm is quite a bit wider than the 23mm fixed on the X100VI. That said, I do love the OVF and prefer the rangefinder-inspired design, functionally and aesthetically. I feel the Ricoh GRiii/x does the everyday carry job much better than anything else, if that’s your main criteria. Answer from provelomori on reddit.com

r/fujifilm on Reddit: X-T5 vs X-T50
November 3, 2024 -

I just went to a fujifilm store to check out the X-T5 in person, but fell in love with the weight of the X-T50.

There's been quite a few threads on this topic but I can't seem to decide between the two.

I'm planning to get a fujifilm camera for everyday use (family events, portraits, landscape, street) so weight is kind of an important factor for me. But the X-T5 has the shutter speed dial & the ISO dial that I really love. I love the efficiency of adjusting the ISO & shutter speed with ease.

Personally I think that the X-T50 would be sufficient, however I can't get over the X-T5 dials but im concerned about the weight of the X-T5, it might be too heavy / bulky for my liking.

Edit: pulling the trigger for the X-T50, reason being:

  • weight is an important factor for me

  • as a new user to the fuji eco-system, I may enjoy being able to add 12 custom recepies instead of 7 on the X-T5

  • ISO control can be linked to the front command dial

  • built-in-flash available for portrait photography.

Why not X-T5?

  • weight. If its too heavy I'm more likely to not use it. I would purchase the X-T5 if it was lighter.

  • weather sealing is an added bonus, not compulsory, I don't shoot in extreme weather.

  • dual slot is also an added bonus, not compulsory.

Why not X-S20? I didn't like the L grip feel.

Why not X-M5? The weight of X-M5 is quite similar to the X-T50, difference was barely noticeable to me. So I may as well go for the X-T50 (or X-T5) instead.

I hope this helps someone. Thanks all for your inputs!

r/fujifilm on Reddit: World Travel Long Term Camera - X-T5 vs. X-T50
May 16, 2024 -

Shortly after graduation, I'm going to be travelling the world. Short stint in Europe, road trip across America, and time in Japan. I wanted something manageable from a size perspective, but still quality and flexible for experimentation. I'm not sure whether is is great or awful timing, but I was almost sold on the X-T5 kit with 18-55mm lens as a buy-once-cry-once camera purchase, with no clue that the X-T50 was on the way.

Now that it's come out, do y'all think the X-T50 is the better choice? I think I prefer the size and look of the X-T5, as well as the stronger battery life, but I haven't had either of them in hand. I was willing to spend the money on the X-T5, but I'm always looking to save if possible.

r/fujifilm on Reddit: A Minimalists Dilemma - X-T5 vs X-T50
June 17, 2024 -

Hi all,

Yet another post asking for advice on whether to go for the X-T5 and the X-T50.

I recently placed a preorder for the X-T50 thinking it was the perfect choice (also ordered the 27mm to go with it). I have yet to officially own anything Fuji, and this is going to be my first camera. I decided on the X-T50 because it was so lightweight and compact, but after doing more research, the X-T5 has a lot of things that I want that the X-T50 is missing.

Things that the X-T5 has that I really want are a better EVF and the three way tilt screen. I can't see myself using all of the buttons on the X-T5, but maybe I would grow into them as I get better with photography. The WR and the extra battery life would be nice, but aren't really deal breakers for me. I do live on Vancouver Island, so maybe the WR would be nice since it can rain here quite a bit, and windy days on the beach does kick up some sand.

Things I like about the X-T50 are the small compact size, built in flash, and minimalist design with less buttons and curved edges. The X-T5 obviously has more pro's as a camera, but the minimalist in me is telling me the X-T5 is too big.

The type of shooting I want a camera for is street, travel, and wilderness backpacking. I am into ultralight backpacking, which is why the X-T50 seems more desirable. I have held the X-T30ii and the X-T5 to try and see what would work best, and my first impression was that the X-T5 was quite a chonky beast, but maybe I can swing the X-T5 since I cut my pack weight in other ways. Any other minimalists / ultralight backpackers here?

Appreciate any insight and advice!

[update]

In the end I decided to go for the X-T5. On the release date of the X-T50 my gut was telling me it wasn't the right choice. As much as I would love to have a lightweight compact camera, the X-T5 suits my other needs more. I have no hate towards the X-T50 and its film-sim dial, but overall its just not for me.

I will put some of my reasons below incase others come across this post and they are in the same dilemma.

  • I want to grow as a photographer and I feel like having a designated ISO dial, instead of a film-sim dial, would be better suited to grow into. I think I might get bored of the film-sim dial after a while, and I know I have a particular taste and don't see my self using all of the film-sims, so I feel like I wouldn't use that dial to its full potential.

  • I decided that WR is something I would 'need', since I want to take photos in all types of conditions, especially because I enjoy crappy weather, and I do not want to worry about my gear. (The weight of worry was heavier than the extra weight between the X-T5 and the X-T50)

  • Some other things I wanted that pulled me to the X-T5 were the 3-way tilt screen and the better evf.

  • Added bonuses that weren't deal breakers: better battery and dual SD card slots.

  • Things I will miss about the X-T50: Lightweight/compact, built in flash, and I like the overall look of it more.

r/fujifilm on Reddit: X-T50 vs X-T5 for a Beginner - Seeking Owner Perspectives on Auto Modes, Ergonomics & Key Differences!
July 27, 2025 -

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy my first camera and have narrowed it down to the X-T50 and X-T5.

I went to the store to get the X-T30 II but found that it's end of life. Honestly, being my first camera and a kind of gift to myself, I want to buy new. I checked out the X-T50, which seemed incredibly small and portable with the XC 15-45mm kit lens. However, I plan to use it with the new XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8. After seeing the X-T50 with the 15-45mm, and then trying it with the XF 16-50mm, it gave me the impression that the lens was almost bigger than the body haha.

I then tried the X-T5 and immediately noticed its much better grip, which is a big plus for my larger hands. That said, I know a 5-minute store test isn't enough to judge long-term ergonomics or the feel of carrying a heavier camera for travel. My main use will be travel photography, and while the X-T50 with a small prime is very appealing for portability, I'm weighing that against the potential comfort of the X-T5 on long travel days.

I'm a beginner and want to understand more about the cameras' automatic features and owner experiences. I read a great comment about a "fully automatic mode with subject and scene detection" being handy for beginners. I really like this point because despite having an interest in learning, I also value the comfort of having a point-and-shoot experience if I need to make sure I don't miss the shot while traveling.

Here are my main questions:

X-T50 Lens Balance & Ergonomics

  • For X-T50 owners, especially those using the new XF 16-50mm or similar-sized zooms: After perhaps seeing the X-T50 with a smaller lens, did you ever feel that the larger lenses, like the XF 16-50mm, made the camera feel unbalanced or "dwarfed" in real-world use? How do you find the overall handling and comfort, especially for longer periods or travel, particularly if you have larger hands? Do you find you need an additional grip, or is the X-T50's slightly improved grip sufficient?

  • X-T5 owners, do you ever find its larger size or weight to be a hindrance for travel, or is the improved grip worth it for you?

Automatic Mode, Subject & Scene Detection, and Film Simulations

  • X-T50 owners: How robust is the auto mode with automatic subject (animals, birds, cars, etc.) and scene detection features on the X-T50? Does it genuinely make the camera more "point-and-shoot" friendly for beginners? How reliable is it in various situations?

  • Crucially, when in auto mode on the X-T50, can you set a specific film simulation yourself, or is it automatically selected by the camera without the option to change it?

  • X-T5 owners: Does the X-T5 have comparable (or identical) automatic subject and scene detection features? Or are there any advanced recognition features on the X-T50 that the X-T5 might lack, potentially making the X-T50 surprisingly more beginner-friendly in this specific regard?

Other Considerations for a Beginner Traveler

  • I've noted that the X-T5 has weather sealing and significantly better battery life, features often associated with more professional use. For travel photography, how important do current owners find these to be? Has the lack of weather sealing on the X-T50 or its smaller battery been an issue for your travel/general use?

  • I also noticed the X-T50 has a built-in flash, while the X-T5 does not. As a beginner, convenience is a factor for me. How useful do you find the built-in flash on the X-T50 for casual travel photography?

For context, here are the prices I'm seeing in Ireland (on amazon, store is more expensive):

  • X-T5: €2,057

  • X-T50: €1,772

Any real-world experiences and perspectives from current owners of both cameras would be incredibly helpful in making my decision. Thanks in advance!

They are both high quality and very similar cameras and you cannot make a wrong decision with any of them! Technically they have same sensor and processor, XT50 is cheaper and smaller, I have it and I'm very happy with it! XT5 is weather sealed, so if you plan to shoot in very bad conditions, it can be a reason and should have slightly better EVF, it has larger battery and slot for 2 SD cards.

The image quality and automatic modes are identical between the two. The size difference is real, but I find it not as significant as you may think. Neither is small enough to fit in a coat pocket. And if you need a sling or bag anyways, a few hundred grams here or there don't make much of a difference. Of course the X-T5 has a deeper grip, but there are good third party grips for the X-T50, too. What I find the most significant differences between the two: The X-T5 has a much larger EVF, and a far longer eye point. If you wear glasses, you may not be able to see the whole EVF at once on the X-T50. Without glasses, the difference isn't as noticeable, but the X-T5's EVF is still much bigger. The X-T5 has a two-way tilting screen, while the X-T50 only tilts one way. This makes portrait low-level/overhead shots easier. Weather sealing. But in most situations, a simple camera bag will keep your camera dry better than any weather sealing. I have the X-T5 and X-M5. There are situations where I do prefer the smaller camera. Especially while exercising or when I don't expect much photographic opportunities. But if I can only choose one, it is no doubt the X-T5. (But the X-T50 has far fewer limitations than the X-M5).

r/fujifilm on Reddit: X-100vi, X-E5, X-t50, X-t5… which one would you take if they all cost +/- the same?
August 17, 2025 -

Hi all,

I‘m fairly new to looking into Fujifilm cameras and I have to say their product range and pricing leaves me pretty confused :-(. At the moment I own a Canon 80D (10 years old) with several lenses (fixed and zoom, some cheaper and some decent ones). I like the Canon, and even if it’s old it still makes decent pictures - but still, I see that I’m using it less and less because it is bulky and heavy, so I will often leave it at home and rather use my iPhone to take pictures. I take all my pictures in RAW and use Lightroom to manage them.

I started looking into smaller and lighter alternatives to the Canon that would be more enjoyable to carry around. I really like the Fuji X line-up for a number of reasons, but I find it very hard to decide between the different options, especially as the pricing (I live in Switzerland) is all over the place. At the moment, you can get a T50 with the 15-45mm lens for 1100 in silver (but it’s more expensive in charcoal or black… and I don’t think I would like that lens), a T50 with the 16-50mm lens is around 1600, but then a T5 with that same lens is only 100 more… The 100VI and X-E5 are both 1599 including the 23mm pancake on the E5 (which looks like an attractive kit lens), but of course you need to pre-order. And then I understand some a weathersealed, some are not, some have a flash, other don’t, etc…

Overall, this is a super confusing product line-up, especially as there are no shops that have them all in their physical showroom. I think I’ve watched every youtube test video that is available, but somehow cannot come to a conclusion given they are all so similar. In the end, I guess, the two most obvious options would be to 1) get the T50 for 1100 and then wait for the 23mm pancake to add to it or 2) pre-order and wait for an E5 incl. the lens as a bundle. Both would be the same price, but on the T50 I would have the extra lens and the advantage of a built-in flash and larger EVF, the E5 on the other hand looks nicer and is a tiny bit smaller…. going for the T5 feels like it’s too similar (large) to what I have now.

So I’m wondering, what would others do if all models were priced +/- the same including a decent kit lens? Having lens flexibility is good, but I often catch myself using my Canon only with the 10-18mm lens because it’s small and I like the wide view.

Trying to figure out which would be best between X-T5, X-E5 or X-T50.

The differences seem very minimal to me. Only the T5 is weather sealed and has a sightly better visor in my understanding. However it's the heaviest of the three...

I can have a really nice deal for the T5 and the FX 16-80mm lens. Or the T50 with the FX 16-50mm But for that price I could probably get the E5 kit with the FX 23mm and one FX 33mm.

The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm going to buy the FX 33mm no matter which model I take.

Anyone had the same struggle as me or could help me identify a clear strength or weakness in those models?

Edit: Thank you for all your inputs. Ended up ordering an X-T5 because it was actually cheaper than the X-T50. Grabbed the kit with the 16-50mm lens and added my 33mm one.

Hey everyone,

I’m stepping up from iPhone photography to my first dedicated camera and trying to decide between the Fujifilm X-T50 and X-T5. I mainly shoot city scenes, people, and landmarks, but I also want to capture nature and landscapes while traveling.

I was initially set on the X-T50, but now I’m considering the X-T5 for better future-proofing. Is the upgrade worth it, or would the X-T50 be enough for a first-time buyer?

Also, what lens combo would you recommend for a mix of city and nature photography? I was thinking of getting the XF 23mm f/2, but I’m open to other suggestions.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

The XT50 is definitely “enough” for a first time buyer. The XT50 shares the same sensor and processor as the XT5, so internally and for photography, they are nearly identical. The biggest difference IMO is that the XT5 is weather resistant and the XT50 is smaller/lighter and has a built in flash. I have an XT20 (nearly the same size as the XT50) and with the 27mm pancake, it is very pocketable, making it a good balance between a point and shoot and a more capable set of lenses when needed. I also have the XT5. With the smaller lenses, it is very easy to travel with, but not really pocketable. The larger size and grip does make it more pleasant with larger lenses if you believe you will get into longer focal lengths. The XT5 is also weather resistant, which is nice if you would like to take photos in dirty or wet environments… but I’ll say that as long as you aren’t actively taking photos in the heavy rain, an XT50 fine to travel with you in those conditions as long as you take care during transport. I think as far as the camera go, if cost isn’t really a factor, I would get the XT50 if you were certain you would be using the smaller f2 primes or the 27mm pancake. If you think you would be interested in some of the larger doomed for longer focal length primes, then you will definitely be happier with the XT5 as it offers a few more options and a larger grip to handle the larger lenses… the point where you put a large lens on a camera, the body size being pocketable isn’t really an advantage. If I were to start with either camera, I believe I would choose a small zoom like one of the “kit” zooms and the old 35mmf1.4 or the 35mmf2. This will be a great place to start allowing some focal length flexibility and a good fast prime for lower light or shallower depth of field.

Depends on your comfort level with carrying a bit more weight. I bought the X-T50 because I needed a lighter, interchangeable package for travelling, and share my camera with my siblings who prefer lighter setups. Were it solely up to me I would’ve gone for the X-T5 as it’s only a little bit more but weather sealed and has 2 x SD card slots and a better battery plus the ISO dial. Personally I do use the film sims dial a lot and it’s nice to be able to flick through them but I can also see why people just go for the film recipes only and if you’re planning on mostly shooting one recipe at a time then don’t need the dial. It is still relatively fast to go through the q menu for the recipe changing but some cameras only get a limited number of custom recipes you can put on it at one time I believe ranging from 7-13

r/fujifilm on Reddit: Why I chose the X-T50 over the X-T5
November 15, 2024 -

Hi all! I just bought my first Fujifilm camera after being a Canon shooter for the past 15 years. Started off as a hobbyist and doing semi-professional work doing event and engagement photography. I've owned 2 Canon DSLRs and my current work camera is a Mirrorless Canon R8 with a plethora of EF L lenses. I wanted to talk about my experience with the X-T50 because I see most people are actually going with the X-T5 over the X-T50. Thought I could give some insight into my decision!

For a while after I started becoming semi-professional, I actually lost a lot of joy taking photos. Whenever I picked up my R8, I would get into the mindset that I'm working a job and would dread editing hundreds if not a thousand+ photos.

For a while I had been looking at the X100VI but as we all know, the wait was immensely long (April earliest from where I'm from). So I started looking into alternatives and the X-T50 and X-T5 came up in a Google search. When I did some research, my heart was drawn to the smaller, X-T50. It was small, portable and had film simulations right there on a dial. The bigger X-T5 was on sale at the time for only $250 more and my mind (doing cost to value calculations) was telling me to get the X-T5 for the value. It's more professional and a better camera overall. I was really conflicted but I knew I wanted to get a compact Fujifilm camera that I could just enjoy taking photos with again. Because I knew this, I hunted for Fujifilm's 27mm f2.8 WR pancake lens. I called every camera shop in my city and there was only one store that had it - with one left in stock.

So, I bussed over to the London Drugs that held this lens and in a single cabinet sat demo units of the X-T50 and X-T5, side by side. And so I asked to try them. Upon picking up the X-T50, my heart and mind finally came together - it was, to me, the perfect enthusiast's camera. The size, the look and the feel just felt right. I then picked up the X-T5 and I was instantly reminded of work and the long hours I would spent editing photos. It felt like a truly professional camera, weighty, beefy, powerful and built well - but my heart was drawn to the X-T50. Turns out that this London Drugs was also the only camera shop where I live that had this camera in stock - and in my favourite colourway, charcoal silver. It was meant to be.

So I went with the X-T50 and I have no regrets so far. It's extremely portable (especially with the 27mm pancake lens) and even though it wasn't the best value purchase to make (the X-T50 is the better option), I will love this little camera until it (or I) dies.

Hello!

I’m deciding between these two cameras. I currently have a Nikon D7000 and had it for almost 14 years. I was looking for a smaller camera that I can bring with me everyone especially when travelling. I was leading towards the 50 but I went to compare them in person and the 5 was smaller than I thought.

For people that used both, how do you find the size and weight difference when you are using them?

I finding it very hard to decided between the two.

Edit: thank you all for your advice, I just ordered a silver X-T5 with 16-50mm!

Hi, I'm purchasing my first pricey camera and plan on taking it on countless domestic (U.S.) and international travels, in potential rain showers, cold weather, but nothing super extreme. I want something compact, easy to have on me for entire day trips going around and maybe even light hiking.

I have seen that they seem pretty similar but one thing that scares me is not having weather sealing on the X-T50 makes me consider the X-T5 much more even though it seems spec wise they are almost the same if I'm not wrong. I would also use a versatile lens for casual use like street photography, some portraits, and landscape+architecture shots.

I'm new to buying cameras and learning about the specs, but I'm not completely new to using cameras, so please give me your advice!

UPDATE: Thanks for al the help and advice I managed to find some in stock deals for the X-T5 with the XF 16-50mm and I think I will be going this route! I will just have to wait a while to get the needed accessories with it. Thanks again!

r/fujifilm on Reddit: Should I Get the X-T50 Now or Wait for the X-T5?
March 13, 2025 -

Hey again everyone,

Through a friend, I found a brand-new Fujifilm X-T50 package with the XF 16-55mm at a price that’s actually cheaper than the X-T5 body alone. I was originally set on the X-T5, but I just found out that my local authorized dealer sold out the last unit, and the next batch’s arrival is uncertain. I also only buy brand new gear from authorized sellers with the insurance, so second-hand is not an option for me.

For context, I’m a beginner when it comes to owning a dedicated camera, but I’ve been into photography for years—mainly shooting with my phone and taking it seriously in terms of composition, lighting, and storytelling. I’m already familiar with the basic technical aspects of photography—ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and composition—but this will be my first time working with an actual camera system, interchangeable lenses, and Fujifilm’s ecosystem.

My Main Question:

❓ Will the X-T50 hold its value well after a few years (or even half a decade)? Assuming I take good care of it, will it still be a solid camera for resale or trade-in later?

I’m mainly into street photography, ambiance, and urban landscapes, and I know the X-T50 has the same 40MP sensor as the X-T5. My thought is: • I grab the X-T50 now, enjoy shooting with it, and later upgrade to the X-T5 (or maybe X-T6 if it comes out). • Or should I just wait for the X-T5 restock, even if it takes months?

Would love to hear from people who have owned Fujifilm cameras long-term—how well do they hold their value, and does the X-T50 seem like a good stepping stone before moving up?

Thanks in advance! 🚀

Bonus Question: For those who’ve used the XF 16-55mm f/2.8, how does it perform for street and urban photography? I know it’s heavier than primes, but is the image quality worth it or any XF recommendations that maybe I can squeeze into the deal?

I've had the X-T5 for over two years and I have added an X-T50 a week ago. I don't think you should ever choose your camera based on what you predict its resale value will be. Its far more important that its the right camera for your photography needs and also it feels good in your hands. If you buy your cameras new, it will lose its value. As you point out some will lose more value than others. For example an X100VI will probably retain the most value from the Fuji collection and an X-T5 will probably lose a bit less than an X-T50. But all that is just speculation - things change, a camera model becomes scarce for unexpected reasons and then the used value goes up. So please try to ignore this aspect when making a decision. The X-T5 is a better camera than the X-T50. The X-T50's trump card is its small size and lighter weight. In every other respect, the X-T5 is better. I carry a camera with me everywhere; I am never without one - so the size and weight is very important for me. I am enjoying the X-T50; its a tiny powerhouse. I would not want to carry it with a zoom lens attached though, because it doesn't have a great grip. Its fine with a small prime lens. To answer your question about waiting for an X-T5 or getting an X-T50 now.... If you can tolerate the weight and size of the X-T5, then wait for the next batch. In my country the X-T5 is not in short supply - its easy to get. Only the X-100VI and some lenses are in short supply. So you shouldn't really have to wait too long.

What do you think you’ll be missing out by getting the 50?

r/fujifilm on Reddit: X100VI vs X-T50 vs X-T5

I’m a former professional wedding photographer, but have been out of the game for about 6 years since becoming a mom. My Canon 5D Mark iii and L series lenses are just sitting and gathering dust these days, as I really don’t want to lug around something that big and heavy for everyday photos. I still love to take photos, and I’m looking for something for everyday photos to get me away from using my iPhone as much, with a good amount of film simulation options so I hopefully never have to edit on a computer (the bane of my existence, after so many years of culling and editing lengthy weddings ha).

Between the X100VI, X-T50, and X-T5, and set in a world where all of them are in stock and easy to get, what would be the best option for my situation? Or is there another option you’d recommend over one of those?

The three are really fine options, they all share a 40mpxl sensor along a xprocessor 5, with extra focus detection and all film sim, all with IBIS, with also the triangle exposure wheels directly adjusted on the body camera. In a way they are all three from the same DNA.   The x100vi is great for a lightweight and really powerful camera but has only a 23mm lens not removable. Thing to know there is a nd4 filter inside, and the evf is quite special, both optic and oled depending what you want. The x-t50 is a good in between, with a wheel for films sims as well. It is nearly as light as the x100vi. Both the x100vi and x-t50 has a low powered battery not lasting long enough for certain use case scenarios. Finally the x-t5 is really bulkier, but has a good battery, better evf (really comfy), water resistant, 2 slots for cards, and a wheel for the iso compared to xt50. it is more “pro” since it also has some features for niche usage (like pixel shift multi shot, some burst speed, speedier shutter…). And I cannot let you go without mentioning the little brother the x-s20, which has the same processor with the latest autofocus and film sim with less resolution coupled with a xtrans 4 sensor of 26mpxl. Coming from canon you will have more feelings with pasm controls. Also it has a great grip, the best battery life, the “small” sensor make lighter files on sd card, the af is a tad chonkier, and it is even lighter than the xt5. I love mine ! Coupled with a xf 27mm f/2.8 it’s so much of the ultimate underdog ! Only downside: it can receive “only” 5 custom recipe (c1-c4 and the fifth recipe on the pasm menu) if you plan to shoot sooc, otherwise it’s my go to !

Just depends on how much gear you wanna lug around I suppose. I personally use the xt5 because I like form factor and lens options. When I want to scale back on weight/size I just put the 27 2.8 on and go. But if I want to shoot something a little more tradition in terms of portraits, I pop on the 56 1.2. It seems to fit most of my needs while allowing me to tinker with settings a little more. You'll get more of the same with the xt50 but in a lighter package and less manual controls. If you dont need/want the flexibility, the x100 is a fine option. All three cameras are exceptional and give the same sim options.

X-T5 vs X-T50 Dilemma - fujifilm
June 23, 2024 - I have learned that size is a very important factor when it comes to taking your camera to places you usually wouldn't. The X-T5 is the better camera, no doubt about that. However, if neither of the differences really matter to you, X-T50 is a no-brainer.

r/fujifilm on Reddit: X-T50 or X-T5

So I’m going to buy either the X-T50 or the X-T5. This will be my first Fujifilm. I love street photography and a minimal carry. I favor the form factor of the X-T50.

But I don’t like the idea of not having weather sealing. I never shot in the rain, but spending this much on a camera and not having it bugs me. Also the iso dial and bigger battery are a big plus.

People that have experience with either or both of these cameras. What would you recommend?

Hello community. So, I want to get into photography as a little hobby but watching and reading reviews I just get more and more confused. I am a complete beginner but still I want something decent. Will be doing mostly landscapes and portraits, maybe some occasional street photography. I decided that I want to stick with Fuji but can’t pull the trigger on a model. So I am looking at the following models: Brand new:

  • X-T30 ii with the XC15-45mm for 1050 €

  • X-T50 with the XC15-45mm for 1450 €.

Or used:

  • X-T5 with the XF18-55mm 1600€

  • X-T4 with either XF23 or XF16-80mm for around 1400€

For the life of me, I can’t decide which camera is worth the money.

Will go to the dolomites this summer and I want to be able to get some nice photos from there.

I would buy the X-T50 without a lens and try to find a second-hand lens.

For those prices and especially for your use case, I would definitely recommend the X-T5. The 40mp sensor will definitely be helpful to you when it comes to landscape photography and the 18-55mm is a much better lens than the 16-45mm (in my honest opinion). Also worth to mention that the higher MP sensor allows you to use the built in digital teleconverter in order to zoom in digitally farther than what your lens can get optically, while not loosing much image quality at all. This is something that can easily be done in post processing, but it’s much nicer and easier to do it in camera as you compose the shot. The X-T50 is slightly newer, smaller, and has the same 40mp sensor as the X-T5, however it’s not as feature packed as the X-T5. Although the x-t50 is smaller and therefore “technically” more portable, it still not pocketable and therefore size difference isn’t huge to make it worth it. The bigger camera also has much superior battery life and dual card slots for realtime back up of your shots for extra peace of mind on top of its weather sealed body. Lastly, its ergonomics - the X-T5 still has all of its original classic style dials for control of the camera and exposure triangle, whereas the T50 has the new version with the (non customisable) film sim dials which to me is a huge miss on Fuji’s part, trying to appeal more to the social media hype crowed instead of photographers. The T4 and T30II are also great cameras but I really don’t see any benefits of going for the T4 instead of the 5 unless you shoot mostly video and want a screen that can flip 360° to the front. The T30II is fantastic since it’s so tiny and packs such a punch - it’s honestly perfect for everyday shooting and travel, especially if you pair it with a small/pancake lens. But you get an older camera, outdated sensor (outdated but not irrelevant, it’s still great), less features overall (no ibis, no dual card slots, no weather sealing, etc), you’ll get a much smaller battery so you’ll have to always carry two or three extra batteries with you, and in your case you’ll also end up getting a worse quality lens in comparison to the one that comes with the XT5. I personally owe an X-T5 which I got after selling my X-T3 and I absolutely LOVE IT to bits, it’s definitely the most capable camera I’ve owned! And I also have the X-pro2 that I bought after selling my X-E4 - I dont regret getting the xpro2 because that is actually my favourite camera of all times (so far), but I do highly regret selling my X-E4 since that was my favourite camera before and I miss it a ton, and it’s also a great camera option for your use cases, but still wouldn’t recommend it over the X-T5. I hope that helps. If you need any more help or have any more questions, I’d be happy to chat about it. Feel free to message me😄
