Shortly after graduation, I'm going to be travelling the world. Short stint in Europe, road trip across America, and time in Japan. I wanted something manageable from a size perspective, but still quality and flexible for experimentation. I'm not sure whether is is great or awful timing, but I was almost sold on the X-T5 kit with 18-55mm lens as a buy-once-cry-once camera purchase, with no clue that the X-T50 was on the way.

Now that it's come out, do y'all think the X-T50 is the better choice? I think I prefer the size and look of the X-T5, as well as the stronger battery life, but I haven't had either of them in hand. I was willing to spend the money on the X-T5, but I'm always looking to save if possible.

Yet another post asking for advice on whether to go for the X-T5 and the X-T50.

I recently placed a preorder for the X-T50 thinking it was the perfect choice (also ordered the 27mm to go with it). I have yet to officially own anything Fuji, and this is going to be my first camera. I decided on the X-T50 because it was so lightweight and compact, but after doing more research, the X-T5 has a lot of things that I want that the X-T50 is missing.

Things that the X-T5 has that I really want are a better EVF and the three way tilt screen. I can't see myself using all of the buttons on the X-T5, but maybe I would grow into them as I get better with photography. The WR and the extra battery life would be nice, but aren't really deal breakers for me. I do live on Vancouver Island, so maybe the WR would be nice since it can rain here quite a bit, and windy days on the beach does kick up some sand.

Things I like about the X-T50 are the small compact size, built in flash, and minimalist design with less buttons and curved edges. The X-T5 obviously has more pro's as a camera, but the minimalist in me is telling me the X-T5 is too big.

The type of shooting I want a camera for is street, travel, and wilderness backpacking. I am into ultralight backpacking, which is why the X-T50 seems more desirable. I have held the X-T30ii and the X-T5 to try and see what would work best, and my first impression was that the X-T5 was quite a chonky beast, but maybe I can swing the X-T5 since I cut my pack weight in other ways. Any other minimalists / ultralight backpackers here?

In the end I decided to go for the X-T5. On the release date of the X-T50 my gut was telling me it wasn't the right choice. As much as I would love to have a lightweight compact camera, the X-T5 suits my other needs more. I have no hate towards the X-T50 and its film-sim dial, but overall its just not for me.

I will put some of my reasons below incase others come across this post and they are in the same dilemma.

• I want to grow as a photographer and I feel like having a designated ISO dial, instead of a film-sim dial, would be better suited to grow into. I think I might get bored of the film-sim dial after a while, and I know I have a particular taste and don't see my self using all of the film-sims, so I feel like I wouldn't use that dial to its full potential.

• I decided that WR is something I would 'need', since I want to take photos in all types of conditions, especially because I enjoy crappy weather, and I do not want to worry about my gear. (The weight of worry was heavier than the extra weight between the X-T5 and the X-T50)

• Some other things I wanted that pulled me to the X-T5 were the 3-way tilt screen and the better evf.

• Added bonuses that weren't deal breakers: better battery and dual SD card slots.

• Things I will miss about the X-T50: Lightweight/compact, built in flash, and I like the overall look of it more.

I just went to a fujifilm store to check out the X-T5 in person, but fell in love with the weight of the X-T50.

There's been quite a few threads on this topic but I can't seem to decide between the two.

I'm planning to get a fujifilm camera for everyday use (family events, portraits, landscape, street) so weight is kind of an important factor for me. But the X-T5 has the shutter speed dial & the ISO dial that I really love. I love the efficiency of adjusting the ISO & shutter speed with ease.

Personally I think that the X-T50 would be sufficient, however I can't get over the X-T5 dials but im concerned about the weight of the X-T5, it might be too heavy / bulky for my liking.

Edit: pulling the trigger for the X-T50, reason being:

• weight is an important factor for me

• as a new user to the fuji eco-system, I may enjoy being able to add 12 custom recepies instead of 7 on the X-T5

• ISO control can be linked to the front command dial

• built-in-flash available for portrait photography.

Why not X-T5?

• weight. If its too heavy I'm more likely to not use it. I would purchase the X-T5 if it was lighter.

• weather sealing is an added bonus, not compulsory, I don't shoot in extreme weather.

• dual slot is also an added bonus, not compulsory.

Why not X-S20? I didn't like the L grip feel.

Why not X-M5? The weight of X-M5 is quite similar to the X-T50, difference was barely noticeable to me. So I may as well go for the X-T50 (or X-T5) instead.

I checked out the X-T50, which seemed incredibly small and portable with the XC 15-45mm kit lens. However, I plan to use it with the new XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8. After seeing the X-T50 with the 15-45mm, and then trying it with the XF 16-50mm, it gave me the impression that the lens was almost bigger than the body haha.

I then tried the X-T5 and immediately noticed its much better grip, which is a big plus for my larger hands. That said, I know a 5-minute store test isn't enough to judge long-term ergonomics or the feel of carrying a heavier camera for travel. My main use will be travel photography, and while the X-T50 with a small prime is very appealing for portability, I'm weighing that against the potential comfort of the X-T5 on long travel days.

I'm a beginner and want to understand more about the cameras' automatic features and owner experiences. I read a great comment about a "fully automatic mode with subject and scene detection" being handy for beginners. I’m stepping up from iPhone photography to my first dedicated camera and trying to decide between the Fujifilm X-T50 and X-T5. I mainly shoot city scenes, people, and landmarks, but I also want to capture nature and landscapes while traveling.

I was initially set on the X-T50, but now I’m considering the X-T5 for better future-proofing. Is the upgrade worth it, or would the X-T50 be enough for a first-time buyer?

I've been using my Canon 60D with a 17-85mm for almost 10 years now, and looking to upgrade.

I mainly shoot travel and street, and sometimes portraits/videos. I also mainly shoot JPEG, especially if it's travel photos, so that's why I'm looking more towards Fuji cameras as I heard they produce great looking JPEGs straight out of the camera with film simulations/recipes. I would consider myself a hobbyist/enthusiast photographer.

Some things to note:

• Portability: my Canon + lens weighs ~1kg, and I really want something thats much lighter and smaller for traveling.

• IBIS: I want to be able to shoot low light and will be using handheld most if not all of the time.

• Battery life: coming from a the 60D, the best part of it as I can go through 3-4 days of moderate shooting without charging.

• Weather sealing isn't too important for me, won't really be shooting in pouring rain

• I really don't mind the film sim dial as long as it's useful where I can put custom recipes (which I've heard is the main draw)

After doing some research, I'm torn between three cameras:

X-E5:

• Pros: compact, IBIS, nice 23mm kit lens, film sim dial can store multiple custom recipes, newest release

• Cons: no weather sealing, the strap lug coming off?? (https://www.fujifilm-x.com/en-us/news/important_notice_fujifilm_x-e5), a bit pricey with kit ($1899)

X-T50:

• Pros: compact, IBIS, nice 16-50 kit lens, best value ($1899 with kit + sd card)

• Cons: no weather sealing, film sim dial can't store multiple custom recipes, slightly worse build quality compared to X-E5 and X-T5

X-T5:

• Pros: weather sealing, IBIS, bigger battery, more pro features, good build

• Cons: bigger and heavier, most expensive ($2299 with 16-50 kit)

I was honestly about to pull the trigger for the X-E5 but the issue with the strap lug falling off made me rethink my choice. Was also kinda considering a Sony a6700 but I've heard it's not as much as fun to shoot mainly JPEGs with especially, so I'm sticking with Fuji for now.

If you’ve used any of them, I’d really appreciate your thoughts:

I’m deciding between these two cameras. I currently have a Nikon D7000 and had it for almost 14 years. I was looking for a smaller camera that I can bring with me everyone especially when travelling. I was leading towards the 50 but I went to compare them in person and the 5 was smaller than I thought.

For people that used both, how do you find the size and weight difference when you are using them?

I finding it very hard to decided between the two.

Hi all! I just bought my first Fujifilm camera after being a Canon shooter for the past 15 years. Started off as a hobbyist and doing semi-professional work doing event and engagement photography. I've owned 2 Canon DSLRs and my current work camera is a Mirrorless Canon R8 with a plethora of EF L lenses. I wanted to talk about my experience with the X-T50 because I see most people are actually going with the X-T5 over the X-T50. Thought I could give some insight into my decision!

For a while after I started becoming semi-professional, I actually lost a lot of joy taking photos. Whenever I picked up my R8, I would get into the mindset that I'm working a job and would dread editing hundreds if not a thousand+ photos.

For a while I had been looking at the X100VI but as we all know, the wait was immensely long (April earliest from where I'm from). So I started looking into alternatives and the X-T50 and X-T5 came up in a Google search. When I did some research, my heart was drawn to the smaller, X-T50. It was small, portable and had film simulations right there on a dial. The bigger X-T5 was on sale at the time for only $250 more and my mind (doing cost to value calculations) was telling me to get the X-T5 for the value. It's more professional and a better camera overall. I was really conflicted but I knew I wanted to get a compact Fujifilm camera that I could just enjoy taking photos with again. Because I knew this, I hunted for Fujifilm's 27mm f2.8 WR pancake lens. I called every camera shop in my city and there was only one store that had it - with one left in stock.

So, I bussed over to the London Drugs that held this lens and in a single cabinet sat demo units of the X-T50 and X-T5, side by side. And so I asked to try them. Upon picking up the X-T50, my heart and mind finally came together - it was, to me, the perfect enthusiast's camera. The size, the look and the feel just felt right. I then picked up the X-T5 and I was instantly reminded of work and the long hours I would spent editing photos. It felt like a truly professional camera, weighty, beefy, powerful and built well - but my heart was drawn to the X-T50. Turns out that this London Drugs was also the only camera shop where I live that had this camera in stock - and in my favourite colourway, charcoal silver. It was meant to be.

So I went with the X-T50 and I have no regrets so far. It's extremely portable (especially with the 27mm pancake lens) and even though it wasn't the best value purchase to make (the X-T50 is the better option), I will love this little camera until it (or I) dies.

I‘m fairly new to looking into Fujifilm cameras and I have to say their product range and pricing leaves me pretty confused :-(. At the moment I own a Canon 80D (10 years old) with several lenses (fixed and zoom, some cheaper and some decent ones). I like the Canon, and even if it’s old it still makes decent pictures - but still, I see that I’m using it less and less because it is bulky and heavy, so I will often leave it at home and rather use my iPhone to take pictures. I take all my pictures in RAW and use Lightroom to manage them.

I started looking into smaller and lighter alternatives to the Canon that would be more enjoyable to carry around. I really like the Fuji X line-up for a number of reasons, but I find it very hard to decide between the different options, especially as the pricing (I live in Switzerland) is all over the place. At the moment, you can get a T50 with the 15-45mm lens for 1100 in silver (but it’s more expensive in charcoal or black… and I don’t think I would like that lens), a T50 with the 16-50mm lens is around 1600, but then a T5 with that same lens is only 100 more… The 100VI and X-E5 are both 1599 including the 23mm pancake on the E5 (which looks like an attractive kit lens), but of course you need to pre-order. And then I understand some a weathersealed, some are not, some have a flash, other don’t, etc…

Overall, this is a super confusing product line-up, especially as there are no shops that have them all in their physical showroom. I think I’ve watched every youtube test video that is available, but somehow cannot come to a conclusion given they are all so similar. In the end, I guess, the two most obvious options would be to 1) get the T50 for 1100 and then wait for the 23mm pancake to add to it or 2) pre-order and wait for an E5 incl. the lens as a bundle. Both would be the same price, but on the T50 I would have the extra lens and the advantage of a built-in flash and larger EVF, the E5 on the other hand looks nicer and is a tiny bit smaller…. going for the T5 feels like it’s too similar (large) to what I have now.

So I’m wondering, what would others do if all models were priced +/- the same including a decent kit lens? Having lens flexibility is good, but I often catch myself using my Canon only with the 10-18mm lens because it’s small and I like the wide view.

Trying to figure out which would be best between X-T5, X-E5 or X-T50.

The differences seem very minimal to me. Only the T5 is weather sealed and has a sightly better visor in my understanding. However it's the heaviest of the three...

I can have a really nice deal for the T5 and the FX 16-80mm lens. Or the T50 with the FX 16-50mm But for that price I could probably get the E5 kit with the FX 23mm and one FX 33mm.

The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm going to buy the FX 33mm no matter which model I take.

Anyone had the same struggle as me or could help me identify a clear strength or weakness in those models?

Edit: Thank you for all your inputs. Ended up ordering an X-T5 because it was actually cheaper than the X-T50. Grabbed the kit with the 16-50mm lens and added my 33mm one.

I am pretty new when it comes to photography, ive been shooting with an older camera that was lended to me for a little while like about 5-6 months and i've been thinking about buying a new camera (maybe a nicer one like the XE5 or X-T50) for a while now because I want something that I can use for a while and that I can kinda grow along with and because I have some money to spare. I just wanted to know if one of these two cameras would be a good fit for me, or if anyone had any suggestions on some alternatives. Edit: I have also looked at the x100vi but im just not sure

Through a friend, I found a brand-new Fujifilm X-T50 package with the XF 16-55mm at a price that’s actually cheaper than the X-T5 body alone. I was originally set on the X-T5, but I just found out that my local authorized dealer sold out the last unit, and the next batch’s arrival is uncertain. I also only buy brand new gear from authorized sellers with the insurance, so second-hand is not an option for me.

For context, I’m a beginner when it comes to owning a dedicated camera, but I’ve been into photography for years—mainly shooting with my phone and taking it seriously in terms of composition, lighting, and storytelling. I’m already familiar with the basic technical aspects of photography—ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and composition—but this will be my first time working with an actual camera system, interchangeable lenses, and Fujifilm’s ecosystem.

My Main Question:

❓ Will the X-T50 hold its value well after a few years (or even half a decade)? Assuming I take good care of it, will it still be a solid camera for resale or trade-in later?

I’m mainly into street photography, ambiance, and urban landscapes, and I know the X-T50 has the same 40MP sensor as the X-T5. My thought is: • I grab the X-T50 now, enjoy shooting with it, and later upgrade to the X-T5 (or maybe X-T6 if it comes out). • Or should I just wait for the X-T5 restock, even if it takes months?

This is the first time I'm seeing this in cameradecision website "We couldn't find any reason to choose the Fujifilm X-E5 over the Fujifilm X-T50." So, the form factor over all these extras on X-T50? Doesn't sound very reasonable. 3-way tilt screen on X-E5, maybe?

So I’m going to buy either the X-T50 or the X-T5. This will be my first Fujifilm. I love street photography and a minimal carry. I favor the form factor of the X-T50.

But I don’t like the idea of not having weather sealing. I never shot in the rain, but spending this much on a camera and not having it bugs me. Also the iso dial and bigger battery are a big plus.

People that have experience with either or both of these cameras. What would you recommend?

Hi, I'm purchasing my first pricey camera and plan on taking it on countless domestic (U.S.) and international travels, in potential rain showers, cold weather, but nothing super extreme. I want something compact, easy to have on me for entire day trips going around and maybe even light hiking.

I have seen that they seem pretty similar but one thing that scares me is not having weather sealing on the X-T50 makes me consider the X-T5 much more even though it seems spec wise they are almost the same if I'm not wrong. I would also use a versatile lens for casual use like street photography, some portraits, and landscape+architecture shots.

I'm new to buying cameras and learning about the specs, but I'm not completely new to using cameras, so please give me your advice!

I’ve had “Buy camera” written on my calendar for months, and tomorrow is finally the day. I’ve just been so indecisive when choosing the right one. I’ve been leaning toward the Fujifilm X-T50 because I love the design, the image quality, and Fuji’s color science. But I’m a bit disappointed that it doesn’t have a fully articulating screen, and I’m concerned about the lack of weather sealing. The Fujifilm X-M5 has also been on my radar and seems like a good option too.

I’m a designer who enjoys street photography. I’ve done some events here and there but I’m not planning to go full-time with it. I currently use a Nikon DSLR that I really like and plan to keep, but it’s massive and frustrating to carry around. I’ve missed so many potential shots because I didn’t have it with me. That’s a big reason I’m looking at a smaller Fuji setup, something I can always have on me without feeling weighed down. I also want to start capturing small vlogs and city clips, nothing overly cinematic, just something more human and raw.

A big part of my confusion is trying to figure out what’s actually worth the investment versus what’s just trendy or overhyped. A lot of videos online feel like they’re just promoting products, so it’s hard to know what to trust. I’m hoping someone here can give me some honest insight or recommendations based on the kind of use I’m describing.

I don't want to start an X-T5 vs X-T50 thing - I know most of the differences on paper, but would love some thoughts from those that have used both. So advice from current X-T5 owners and especially those that have used both would be really welcome.

I currently have the 50. Bought it after shooting with an X100V (which got me back into photography after like 35 years). Love many many things about it and am definitely a Fuji ecosystem guy. Have a nice set of lenses including a macro (didn't know how much I'd love that) some primes and a zoom.

Here's the thing - I've never LOVED the look of the 50. Being a guy that started shooting in the 70s, the X-T5 speaks to me visually. That's NOT the be-all end-all obviously, but it's something at least.

I do like the size of the 50 for travel I suppose, and it's easy to get out and get ready with, but honestly it feels a bit smallish to me and I have average hands. I have a grip with integrated Swiss Arca rails on it to make it easier to hold (and to mount on my focus rail or tripod), which adds size and 70g or so to the weight, so that cuts the weight diff to only 50g or so. And I'm thinking the additional weight might actually be GOOD if I'm using a heavy lens.

I've been concerned about weather sealing, and addressing it by completely avoiding going out if it's raining, which is limiting, but honestly it's always made me nervous to use expensive electronics in the rain - how good is the weather sealing on the 5? I'm moving home to the Northeast in the fall and probably will want to shoot outdoors in the snow at least.

I also actually kinda like the film dial, though I'd prefer ISO and the drive dial by far. I do like having a built in flash in a pinch, though I have a Godox - I just don't always carry it. Extra card slot is nice, but not necessary. I'm not a belt and suspenders guy, and I'm not a pro - I just shoot for fun.

I have an opportunity to sell my 5 and get a new 50 for about a net cost of $300. Same as the original up-charge. I'm considering it.

Can anyone give me insight into the different handling characteristics and any features that you love on the 5 that are absent from the 50? I have never had an X-T5 in hand and there's no place near me to check one out that I'm aware of.

I do have 2 Fuji w126 batteries with a charger (nice leftover from X100V) that I couldn't move over to a 5, so that's something to consider, but honestly that extra cash isn't going to be the difference-maker.

This *almost* comes down to aesthetics, which part of me feels is a totally douchey way to decide, and a part of me feels is really important, lol. That silver X-T5 makes me smile whenever I see it (black too actually - but that's an internal debate for later).
