Even a couple years down the road, a used XT4 is still ~$400 more than the new X-S20. The X-S20 has a host of features better for vlogging, but the biggest draws are the 6k video resolution (human eye even that good yet?) and 50% more frames per charge. Anybody else considering the X-S20 over an X-T4 or X-T5? I do event photography and I've been planning to jump to Fuji with the X-T4 next summer, but the X-S20 is looking better for cheaper?
I'd love to hear some perspectives on pros+cons between the X-S20 vs X-T4!
X-S20 vs X-T4
Edit: used X-T4s go for about the same price, now! I was going off the last time I looked, a couple months ago.
Edit 2: Thanks a ton for all the feedback! Exactly what I was hoping for. Saved me doing hours of youtube/tech-specs comparison, and definitely included some considerations I would have glossed over. Cheers!

Hey everyone,
I was curious what you would suggest as my new camera. I am currently using a x-t20 and I would love to upgrade to get some video features (webcam, short videos). The s-20 looks nice but is body only 1400โฌ, whereas the x-t4 is around 1k used.
The pros of the s-20 are it's size, webcam mode and the new ai focusing system. Coming from the x-t20, an improvement of the autofocus is a high priority.
The x-t4 has the older autofocus system (is it any good?), is bulky but is much cheaper.
What would you get?
Was originally planning to buy a used X-T4 as my first Fuji body. Mainly as a hybrid camera but more so for videos. Nothing cinematic just more for content. I just saw some of the reviews on the S20 though and now am unsure if I should get that instead? I know itโs not out yet but sheโs off of the info that has been released what do yโall think? The cheapest Xt4s rn are around $1000-1100.
Thanks!
If your focus is more on video, the X-S20 might be better for you. It's supposed to have updated and superior autofocus tracking, which should be helpful for video.
Used X-T4 prices will only go down, so you may be better off waiting until the X-S20 can get more in-depth reviews.
I would definitely choose the X-S20 if I were you. It has the same image sensor as the X-T4 but the new processor that the X-T5, X-H2 and X-H2S also have. It performs much better than the X-T4 in terms of autofocus and video functions.
X-S20 is around 1400e new and X-T4 can be found for 1000e used. I shoot only video. I'm aware of the specification difference but would love to hear more if someone had tried both of these.
Considering the spec I would bother to try 6k since I crop in a lot when editing but not sure if that is worth the extra 400 for that and the 4:2:2 vs 4:2:0 difference. I shoot f log most of the time.
Both are barely used and in new condition. I was thinking of upgrading from the X-T2 to the X-T4 because the X-T5 is out of range for me. The X-T4 has still the normal AF tracking without subject detection. The X-S20 has basically the best AF and subject detection. Would it be better to take the X-S20 even though it's not WR and more light than the X-T4 for wildlife? I know that for casual shooting as wellcas landscape both are good and then I would prefer the X-T4 but for the part of wildlife I tend to take the X-S20. Is the normal tracking in the X-T4 much more worse than the Subject detection in the X-S20? I had the X-S20 rented once but never the X-T4 so I can't really compare.
I am a hobby photographer currently looking to purchase a Fujifilm camera and deciding between three options:
-
X-T4 (Used): ~$1050
-
X-S20 (New): $1299
-
X-T30 II (New): $899
I'm mostly interested in shooting stills over video, mainly for travel and landscape photography.
From my understanding, the X-S20 provides better autofocus, IBIS, and video than the other two. Benefits of the X-T4 I have seen are that it is truer to the Fujifilm experience, weather sealing, more manual controls, and dual card slots. The X-T30 II seems like a cheaper option, but compromises on some features like no IBIS, weather sealing, etc.
It seems like most of the benefits of the X-S20 are more relevant for shooting videos, so I'm not sure if the increased price is justified compared to the X-T4 or X-T30 II for my uses. Does the newer autofocus, processor, and video features make that much of a difference? Is it worth buying the X-T4 secondhand right now, given some of the features seem a bit outdated when compared to the X-S20? Do the benefits of the X-T4 justify the increase in price from the X-T30 II?
Would love to get some input from those with more experience!

XT4. dont waste your time with the XT30II. it may be smaller, but there are too many tradeoffs.
Stills over video? Travel and landscape? Personally I would go X-T30II for the size and weight.
I live in a place where there's no way for me to try out any Fujifilm camera. That being said, I need your advice on this one.
Which do you think I should get. I'm a photography first user, if that helps. I really want but also reluctant to buy the X-T5 due to the price but I can wait and save up a bit more. On the other hand, there's part of me saying that the X-T4 or X-S20 is enough for me.
What do you think?
I voted for the X-t5 because the price difference where I live isn't much
x-t4 is 1500โฌ and x-t5 is 1700โฌ
IMO its worth it just for the newer sensor
since you are not interested in video that much I decided against X-S20 as I find it video first camera
why not consider the x-t50?
