Any major difference between Yamaha p45 and Yamaha p125? Which one would you recommend I buy? : r/piano
March 20, 2023 - I have a P45 in addition to a grand piano. I use the P45 for practicing when I don't want to bother the rest of the family. I think it's fine for my purposes, but I would go for something with better action if I didn't also have an acoustic piano. ... For about $1,500, consider the Yamaha P-515.

Hello all! I am a beginner and I would like to buy a piano to start playing. I would mostly play contemporary song, possibly singing on them. At the shop I found a Yamaha p121, it is a 73 keys, for 500 euros. Do you think it is a good choice ? Could the 73 keys be a problem with respect to a full 88 keys? Thanks!

73 keys is fine 95% of the time. To missing notes at the top don't really matter in practice, it's the extra motes at the bottom you'll miss occasionally. I like being able to play a big C or D octave in the left hand and sometimes miss not having that option on a 73. As a beginner it will keep you going a long time probably until you notice any difference A P225 goes for about 665 euros online, so you having to decide if that's worth paying the extra. P145 is cheaper but more basic and is consider the kind of standard entry level 88 key option. The casios have really nice actions these day so check those as well.

You need 88 weighted keys. Roland FP-30X, Kawai ES120, or Yamaha P-125 are as cheap as you can go and not get something you would want to replace before a year is even up. It's personal preference as to which of these you prefer. If you live in a bigger city you can maybe go around and try these but many shops only stock one of the three brands. Casio also makes pretty good keyboards but they are generally considered a bit worse than the three above because the keys are very heavy if you are trying to play them near the back of the instrument, which you sometimes will want to do.

r/piano on Reddit: Difference between yamaha p45 and p125 ?
February 18, 2019 -
Hello! please help me folks...I want to learn the piano and know just the basics about the keys weight and timbre. I did a brief research and Im assuming that the p47 and p125 are decent pianos for beginers. The p125 is more expensive but what makes it better than the p45? Is the p45 a good choice? What would I be missing by buying the p45? Thanks in advance!

The two have the same keyboard so will feel the same. The P125 has a better sound engine, so will sound better, particularly when played through good headphones. Also, the P125 has 192 note polyphony vs. 64 for the P45. With lower polyphony, the first notes you play in a sequence of chords held with the sustain pedal can be lost. I recommend getting a better sustain pedal. The one that comes with these pianos is not nice to use. You will outgrow them at the same time, as the limitations of the keyboard design become apparent (it will be a few years away). Going for the P45 will give you more to put towards its replacement. Going for the P125 will mean having a nicer sounding piano.

Yamaha P Series digital piano comparison – Piano & Synth Magazine
Although there are fewer functions than might be found on Yamaha’s portable home keyboards — such as the PSR and PSS series — the P Series not only stand as good mid-level digital pianos but can also be used as basic keyboard controllers for use with MIDI, where other keyboards, modules and computer DAWs (digital audio workstations) can be connected.

Yamaha P45 vs P125: Why the P125 Is The Better Pick?
Since the Yamaha P45 is best for beginners only, it focuses more on the basic tones and voices you’ll need to start playing. This includes a couple of piano tones, some bass, organ, synth, and strings voices. However, you don’t get as much variety as the Yamaha P125.

Yamaha P45 vs Yamaha P125 Digital Pianos Comparison
December 16, 2022 - The next sound-related difference is that these pianos do not use the same sound engine. The P45 is using Yamaha’s Advanced Wave Memory (AWM Stereo) engine, while the P125 is using the more advanced Pure CF sound engine, with the high-end Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano being recreated via stereo sampling.
