Hi all,
TL;DR: I bought Yamaha PSS-A50 and I am a little bit disappointed by it. Does anyone with PSS-A50 feel the same? Or did I have high expectations?
A kid in my brain decided I want AKAI mini play mk3. Videos on Youtube are great but after watching them for a few days I eventually backed from purchase. Reason? I decided I need to re-learn how to play piano (after +10 years) before playing with something like Akai.
After few days of research and reviews I decided to go with Yamaha PSS-A50. I am playing with it for a week and I am a little bit disappointed. I was excited about arpeggios. It was an easy way to train/improvise with one hand while the second one changes tones just once in while (with help of arpeggio hold). My issues with it:
Dynamic velocity (touch sensitivity?) sometimes doesn't work properly. This is maybe caused by the different volume of voices or arpeggio programming. I tried all four settings and none of them sit with me. I have sometimes a hard time hitting "correct volume" when changing arpeggio (with the hold button).
Missing volume control of arpeggio playing on hold. Once I hit it too loud I am almost unable to hear the keys I am playing.
Looping onboard recording (shift + play) always ends with a short pause between the end and start of the new loop. I tried stopping recording while I was playing; the pause is still there. Why...
I don't like organs/synth lead voices. Which are after piano only two I am interested in.
Arpeggio program selection is a joke...
Motion effect control is a very bad joke... Changing it while playing is a nightmare (at least for me).
Positive is that when I hit arpeggio with correct volume - it's fantastic. The keyboard feels very nice. And default piano voice is not that bad (with headphones; cheap speaker is... well... cheap - but enough for my needs).
I ordered now also F30 so I can compare. Using arpeggio is a pain in *** so maybe using background songs of F30 will be sufficient for my needs. But I feel this itch in my head. Everybody loves it but me...
So my question is - does anyone with PSS-A50 feel the same? Or are my expectations just too high for the keyboard under 100€?
