Barrymore used to frequent NY nightclubs as a literal child. She was at Studio 54, then New York’s hottest nightclub, when she was 9. She was smoking at 9, drinking at 11, smoking weed at 12 and snorting coke by 13. She was in rehab at 14, attempted suicide and was sent to a mental institution at the same age. After that she had to emancipate herself from her addict parents and live on her own at 15. And you can’t tell me that she wasn’t sexually abused going to nightclubs as a preteen.
It is disgusting that we would glorify this. This picture is capturing a moment in the total destruction of her childhood and spiral into addiction as a bunch of apathetic selfish enabling stars look on and do nothing to help her.
