Device Settings > Apps > YouTube App. Force Stop > Clear Cache > Delete Data > Run any memory cleaning Apps you have > Power Down Device, wait a couple of minutes for residual memory to clear then Power back up. Should that fail .... Device Settings > Apps > YouTube > top right corner > three vertical dots > Uninstall Last Update > Restart your Device and let Playstore update the YouTube App, or manually check for an update through Playstore. Whenever I receive a link for a YouTube-Video (via WhatsApp, Signal, SMS,...) and I try opening it in the YouTube-App by tapping on it, it opens the app, but I just get directed to the homescreen of YouTube, instead of getting forwarded to the video I'm trying to open.

To fix this issue I tried several things:

  • reinstalling the YouTube-App

  • clearing cache for Safari and Chrome

  • rebooting the device

  • factory resetting the data privacy settings

  • trying opening the video from different sources

  • trying different links

  • verifying, that it is an issue specific to the YouTube-App by trying to reproduce the issue with Spotify or Instagram

  • updating all apps and the OS

I'm running out of possible things to do to fix this issue and hope someone has had similar issues and found a fix or at least a workaround. Both the official Apple support and Google support could not help me. Does anybody have any other idea?

I think youtube is having issues with the recent update, I tried all ways I can think of to try and fix it like clear data, cache, restart device. None worked

Alright, so this just started happening today, but I literally cannot access the YouTube app at all. I am on iPhone and the app crashes shortly after I open it every time I attempt to open it.

I have restarted my phone, uninstalled the app, and offloaded it. This has allowed me to access the app, but every time I close it or it crashes for whatever reason after so, it goes back to being inaccessible.

Has anyone else had this problem? Before asking, yes I have updated it to the most recent version and my phone is also updated to the most recent version. I’ve also tried cellular, wifi, and everything in between, but no luck. I haven’t been able to find anything on their help forums, so this is where I’ve ended up.

Edit: from consensus in the comments, it appears this problem is arising from purchases made in the app. My memberships were renewed the day it happened, so hopefully YouTube can get on this and fix it.

I am having this issue too. It happened after I tried to join a channel's membership, paying through Apple. Somehow the transaction being done through Apple is making the app crash. Started happening yesterday.

Literally just had this issue come up a couple minutes ago, hence why I’m here. From what everyone is saying I think it’s a transactional glitch, as it happened for me as well right after trying to buy an episode of a tv show.

Same here! I restarted my phone, force stopped the app, cleared the cache, uninstalled the most recent update, etc. Nothing has worked so far.
