YouTube Premium family membership - did something change recently?
They've been cracking down on members of families being located together. If a member is found to be elsewhere, Premium gets cancelled. Maybe you're away from the rest of the group? More on reddit.com

Premium family location & manager?
I don't know how YTTV really works. But, if it works like other YT services by using a YT/Google Family for family accounts, then you'd have a really good chance of having issues. Things to think about: You can only be part of one YT family group at a time. If you're already the family manager (because of YTTV), then you would have to be the family manager for the YTM premium account. So, if anyone lost services, it'd be people out of your household (your daughter) Both here (Reddit) and the main YTM Google forum are littered with posts about people not getting services due to being in different locations. You can try it (I know it works in different locations for some people - e.g. me, but I've had premium since the GPM days), but Google does check. I personally wouldn't try it, but that's me :). If you do try it, make sure that all your Google accounts have the same country listed in your account - especially check pay.google.com - they seem to really reference this for location possibly consider using new Google accounts (starts fresh anyway) to do the premium. That way, as the accounts are created, they can be given the same location info I really don't know for sure how Google's location check-ins work. They just basically say that they check in every 30 days (probably vague on purpose). More on reddit.com

Hi, I am trying to remove people from family group after deactivation but I’m unable to do it.

Is there any way to remove people?

Family members are unable to take YouTube premium membership because they are already in a family group.

r/YoutubeMusic on Reddit: Premium family location & manager?
June 21, 2024 -

I have YTTV & have added friends & family to my account, including my daughter who lives 2.5h away.

My daughter has Spotify Premium (family) & added me & her little brother but, with the price hike, she’s been looking into other services.

Now we’re left with 2 questions/concerns about possibly switching to YTM family:

  1. how serious are they about cracking down on the location? If she sets it up & adds me & her little brother, would the 2 of us eventually get kicked off the service?

  2. since I’m the family manager of YTTV, would that conflict with her being family manager of YTM?

I’m happy with Spotify & how easy it is to find my preferred genre & new music in that category (punk). We’ve given Tidal a bit of a test run but it lumps punk in with ‘hard rock’ & that’s not my jam. Then again, I’m not the one paying so I’ve told her it’s ultimately her choice/decision. My 2 questions are her/our main concerns. She wouldn’t be saving any money if we couldn’t all be included..

As already said, you can only be a member of one Family group, so one of you would have to manage both services for that to ever work. That being said, the family sharing isn’t actually intended for people who live outside of the household. They make some exceptions from college students, but outside of that, everyone is supposed to live under the same roof or it violates the TOS. It might be working right now, but if they notice that an account is logging in from a different geographical location for an extended period of time, they will lock the account.
