SEO has changed quite a lot over the last few years. Understanding search intent and the SERPs user behavior is important. If a query is returning mostly videos than right away your approach should be to create videos and SEO optimize them. Based on your " pizza recipe " example I can easily deduct based on the SERPs that people will most likely watch a video about that than to read a blog post, of course there's an exception where some will prefer to read about it. I have ranked multiple keywords higher than videos but what I've noticed is that these SERPs shuffles quite a lot between showing videos first or blog posts. Also there has been some consolidation done when it comes to showing result on the SERPs " the most popular are " the video pack " where it shows video as 1 result for the query and the other is or where a website can't occupy two different positions on the same result page. For one of my highest volume keywords a video pack was ranking first so what I did was to create a video and also a blog post about the same topic. I ended up ranking position 1 in the video pack and also position 2 right under it for the blog post. Of course keep in mind that are no formula to ranking a website, you have to understand your ranked competitor's page and then do more than they are, not in term.of just content length or any of the "basic " stuff. do they have any schema on their page, faqs so on so worth. I’ve tried a bunch of tools for YouTube keywords all of them show fancy graphs and numbers but end up just confusing you. now I only use ubersuggest, it’s simple: drop in a seed keyword and it gives enough context that ideas just start flowing. It’s kinda underrated, but when you use it right, the keyword rabbit hole gets pretty fun lol.

VidIQ TubeBuddy Ahrefs None are great - data for the same keyword can be all over the place. It comes down to a mix of YouTube and Google rankings for a keyword, if that keyword has video results on google, and cross checking similar channels and looking at what gets views.
