In early 2026, YouTube plans to launch YouTube TV Plans, an option for people who want only a subset of live TV channels — including packages centered on sports, news, kids and family, and entertainment. https://deadline.com/2025/12/youtube-tv-plans-bundle-sports-1236644352/
We used YouTube TV for years but recently got rid of it because $82.99 was just crazy considering we mainly watched local channels.
We’d love for YouTube TV to come out with tiered packages like cable companies did years ago; $12.99/month local only, $49.99/month local plus all channels minus sports, $82.99/all available channels.
Any chance of that happening?
I will start by saying I'd like to stay with YouTube TV. However, with the other big 3 live TV streaming services offering different perks and add-ons, I feel like YTTV is falling behind.
*Hulu w/Live TV, Fubo, and Direct TV (Streaming) all offer ESPN Unlimited which gets ESPN Select content and WWE PLEs. YTTV does not.
*Hulu w/Live TV bundles in Disney+ and Hulu's back catalog and originals for no extra cost. YTTV does not.
*DIrecTV bundles Disney+ and Hulu (with Gemini lease) on signature packages.
*DirecTV offers genre packs for less that include different add ons such as ESPN Unlimited, Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max.
*Fubo just launched their Sports centric package
Other companies are trying at least to gain business and offer what seems to be better value.
I've noticed that YouTube TV has a lot of different, I guess, "bundles" that you can add on to the service.
Some, like the 4k plan, are just enhancements to the base YouTube TV package. But others, like Max or League Pass, are completely separate services. At least I think so?
I am already paying for YouTube TV base and Max separately. Even if I were to cancel my current Max subscription at the end of its term, and choose to bundle it with YouTube TV, like I'd still have to:
pay the full price for the separate service
use the appropriate app for the separate service
So what's the utility? Just to have different streaming subs bundled together instead of spread out across different payments? Like, I can't watch Max within the YouTube TV app if I have the sub through YouTube TV, right? Or... can I?
I guess it would be cool if, like the Library, Home, and LIVE tabs, there were also a Max tab within the YouTube TV app that I could switch to and watch shows from that service with. I see the vision there. But as it stands I don't really understand the offerings. Is it just the obvious like I mentioned earlier?
