There are no meaningful reasons to pick Z790 over Z690, it's a downgrade at least as far as connectivity is concerned as you lose thunderbolt support on the MSI model. The Strix board does have it but then you also need to pay out the nose even more and then deal with Asus jank when it comes to weird daughterboards, external audio solutions, and so on. Unify has been my favorite series, think I had 3 generations of unify then disappointed when they didnt make one for the Z790i, could've gotten the Z690i but at the time I got the edge for cheap. Now I sold it to a friend.

I have the Lian-Li A4-H2O case. I'm considering building an i7 13700K based system, but I don't have any plans for GPU yet. I will go for RTX3070 or 3060 Ti probably.
I'm thinking of using this motherboard with the 13700K. As a cooler, I have NZXT Z53 or EK Basic AIO in mind.
What are your thoughts on the motherboard? Are Z790 motherboards worth the wait?

I’ve heard the MEG is a pretty good board, but it may be a bit overkill if you aren’t heavily overclocking, which you probably aren’t on itx. That said, it’s still a better deal than any of the z790 boards announced.
