Zen browser isn't a supported browser for 1Password which means that integration between the 1Password desktop app and the browser extension won't work. r/zen_browser on Reddit: Zen Browser and 1Password extension
August 14, 2024 -

Hey!

So far loving Zen browser, installed it just to see what was up and fell in love! What a lovely little browser.

The only problem I've encountered so far was getting the 1Password extension to communicate with the macOS app. It seems someone already asked the 1Password community about this and got a reply what the problem is:

https://1password.community/discussion/147429/support-for-zen-browser

Would it be possible for the proposed solution there to be implemented, or is it something not really possible in the near future?

Thanks again for the amazing browser!

Trying to find the latest way to get 1password browser integration with app on Linux. macOS: I got it working on macOS. In the app on macOS , under Settings -> Browser I have two options "Get 1Password for your Browser" and "Connect to additional browsers" ... in this area you can add Zen browser to the list . At first glance it seems to work. If I lock 1pw from the browser plugin, it locks the app as well. Linux: Now on Linux, the Settings -> browser has no option to "Connect to additional browsers" . It only has the first option. I've found this suggestion to get the integration working https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop/issues/361#issuecomment-2308570512 sudo mkdir /etc/1password sudo touch /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers echo "zen-bin" | sudo tee -a /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers But didn't work. I found this variation here https://edb.tools/posts/1password-extension-fix/ (you need to change "vivaldi" to "zen") # Here is an easy script to do it for you =) sudo mkdir /etc/1password sudo touch /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers # Just replace Vivaldi with whatever browser you want to use. sudo echo "vivaldi-bin" > /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers sudo chown root:root /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers sudo chmod 755 /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers Still didn't do it though I have not rebooted, so I may try that. FYI There is a thread here at 1password about that Settings option and it not being in Linux or Windows https://1password.community/discussion/147429/support-for-zen-browser#latest So my question is, has anyone solved this on Linux?

This would be super nice, as it enables things like fingerprint login to 1password which makes it a lot easier to use day to day....

You switched accounts on another tab or window. Reload to refresh your session. ... I'd make a PR but I want to hear from you about this. It took me a while to figure out what process name I should put for this browser in /etc/1password/custom_allowed_browsers (see this wiki article). I eventually realized it's .zen-wrapped.

1Password desktop app integration not working in Zen Browser · Issue #10788 · zen-browser/desktop
October 12, 2025 - The 1Password browser extension should connect to the 1Password desktop app just like it does in Firefox, allowing autofill and vault access. The extension stays disconnected and shows “Integration status: connection problem.” 1Password desktop doesn’t detect Zen Browser as a connected application.

r/zen_browser on Reddit: Is there a way to get the 1password extension to unlock with windows hello
November 28, 2023 -

Downloaded Zen Browser a few minutes a go and so far I like it a lot. The only problem I'm having so far is the fact that the 1password extension isn't hooking into windows hello to unlock it. It's a feature I've gotten used to on chromium based browsers and would like to get it on zen if I can.

This is the first firefox browser I've used in over a decade so I'm not sure if this a zen thing or a firefox thing.
