First Impressions
I've slept on everything from five-star hotel beds to questionable hostel mattresses. So when this compressed rectangle showed up at my door, I was skeptical. Unboxing it felt like some bizarre magic trick – how the hell did they fit a queen-size mattress in there?
The expansion process was oddly satisfying, like watching a time-lapse of bread rising. Within a few hours, I had a full-fledged mattress ready to go. The smell wasn't as offensive as I'd braced for – more of a faint "new car" scent than chemical warfare.
First night's sleep? Not bad, not bad at all. It's got that signature memory foam hug without feeling like you're being swallowed alive. The green tea infusion isn't some magical cure-all, but I didn't wake up feeling like I'd spent the night in a swamp, so that's a win.
Over the next few weeks, I put this bad boy through its paces. Side sleeping, starfishing, Netflix marathons – you name it, we did it. The edge support isn't going to win any awards, but for a foam mattress, it holds its own.
What really surprised me was the temperature regulation. I'm usually a human furnace, but this mattress didn't turn into a sauna overnight. Maybe there's something to that charcoal infusion after all.
Key Features
Zoned Pressure Relief: This feature is designed to target specific areas like your hips and shoulders, offering support where you need it most.
Green Tea and Charcoal Infusions: These natural elements are supposed to neutralize odors and keep the mattress fresh.
Medium Firm Feel: This balance aims to provide comfort without that sinking feeling you get with some memory foam mattresses.
CertiPUR-US Certified: This certification means the foam is made without harmful chemicals, a big plus for the health-conscious.
10-Year Warranty: ZINUS offers a 10-year warranty on this mattress, which provides some peace of mind.
Pros
Surprisingly Comfortable: The mattress conforms to your body, providing a comfortable cradle that relieves pressure points.
Minimal Motion Transfer: If you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns, you'll appreciate the minimal motion transfer.
Good Value: For the price, the ZINUS 12 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress offers a lot of bang for your buck.
Breathable: The infused green tea and charcoal seem to help with breathability. It keeps the mattress relatively cool throughout the night.
Easy Setup: Unboxing and setting up the mattress is a breeze, even if you're doing it solo.
Cons
Initial Off-Gassing: While minimal, there is a slight odor for the first day or two after unboxing.
Edge Support Could Be Better: The edges of the mattress are a bit softer, which might be an issue for some sleepers.
Not Ideal for Stomach Sleepers: The medium-firm feel might be too soft for those who prefer sleeping on their stomachs.
Final Thoughts
After weeks of tossing, turning, and occasional drooling, I've come to a conclusion: the ZINUS 12 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is a solid choice for most sleepers. It's not going to revolutionize your life or cure your insomnia, but it will give you a comfortable, cool night's sleep without breaking the bank.
If you're a hot sleeper, value shopper, or just someone who appreciates a good night's rest without the luxury price tag, this mattress is worth a shot.

Edit: it’s been two years and either we’ve gotten used to the firmness or it’s gotten a bit softer. From what I’ve read, the 10 inch version is a little softer than the 12. In the past Zinus used fiberglass for flame resistance but that is no longer the case with this mattress. If you’re interested in this mattress just know that you will be sacrificing some things to be at this price point BUT for a budget mattress it has meet my expectations and I have no complaints.
I looked up Zinus mattress here and a lot of posts from 5-6 years ago. Wanting your thoughts on this brand. Looking at the green tea memory foam and the hybrid one. I bought a full spring mattress off of Amazon 2 years ago and it is shot, sink hole in the middle. I'm 5' 10" 200 lbs. Wondering about the longevity of the Zinus brand. I have a limited budget so need to stay in the Zinus price range. Thanks.
Edit:
Thanks again everyone for all the feedback!
Bought the green tea memory foam mattress last night. Will update when it arrives if there are any issues, but hoping it works out.
Edit 2: Three months later the mattress has worked out great. I sleep well on it, no pressure points. And it appears to be holding up well.
