The difference between the Gourmet and the International with the similar designs is the International is made elsewhere. The Spanish made Henckels/International are decent. But the grinding and heat treat aren't quite as good. The handle material is cheaper. The steel is thinner, and it's a similar but a different softer steal. So that's you're price difference. All round slightly cheaper construction somewhere where labor is cheaper. If you want a "nicer" Zwilling you can do much better than the entry level Gourmet line. Those are solid, but they're a pretty basic knife. Zwillings frequently go on sale this time of year. I really like the Pro line with integrated bolster. If you shop around you can typically find a 7" or 8" Zwilling Pro Chef for ~$80 (US). More on reddit.com

They’re ok. Consider a Takayuki grand chef if you’re looking for an alternative. Edit: I don’t like how the handle has some pretty sharp edges on it and the blades are not really special. The wood series suffered from handle scales needing a lot of putty to close gaps. I suspect that’s why they discontinued it. More on reddit.com
