Password Generator in 1Password Android App?
I myself just switched over from LastPass and I'm a little disappointed that some features like a password generator isn't an option on the app. And it also lacks the auto fill on some apps not giving me the option like Reddit app. I know someone who has an iPhone and they have a different experience and works better. I'm going to try using my iPad and see if I can get the same experience. I'm curious if this just some features available on iOS instead of Android. I'm so hoping they will fix the issue. 1Password have said in the past that they restrict the use of symbols to reflect those typically accepted by websites. When it comes to password entropy, length is more important than width. You gain more entropy by increasing the length of the password than by increasing the width of the character set. The entropy increases linearly with the character set and exponentially with the password length. If a password is being used purely for authentication then a 61 character set and the 20 character length limit of a typical website is more than enough to protect against brute force attacks. The websites that restrict the length to less than 20 characters are often the ones to also restrict the choice of symbols. So generating a password with a wider selection of symbols is unlikely to help. If a password is being used for encryption then a 61 character set and a 44 character randomly generated password exceed the entropy of a randomly generated 256 bit encryption key. So a wider character set would not provide any increased security. More on reddit.com
