I just recently did an upgrade from Intel to AMD and this is my first time using an AMD CPU. I read a few reviews and articles on the Ryzen 7 7800x3d. I’m decently tech savvy however I stay away from OC and messing around in the BIOS. Now I guess I want to change that lol
I only game so I figured I might as well try to get some more performance out of my rig while not going too crazy and making it unstable but since I’m not familiar with this, I don’t want to make any changes without knowing what I’m doing and why.
What would be the best BIOS changes or any changes elsewhere ?
My pc build: (started with a prebuilt and swapped parts in/out so that’s why some cheap parts are still in it)

Looking for best CPU bios settings? My build is CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor. Mainboard: Tuf Gaming B850E. Memory: Team Group UD5-6000 DDR5 16GBx2 32GB. Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 4Tb. GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080
I haven't done any tweaking to my 7800x3d yet, so I was looking at curve optimizer and PBO.
In the BIOS, the PBO has levels 1-5 for different ratings 70-90.
Can anyone explain what this means?
Is this something I can tweak without touching the CO? Or should I tweak it in conjunction with the CO?
Hi, I just setup recently my new PC with :
-
Asus ProArt X670E Creator WiFi
-
G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 6000 CL32 EXPO
-
Ryzen 7 7800X3D
-
Noctua NH-D15
-
Asus Geforce RTX 4070 Dual
Everything is already up and running just fine with the latest drivers. I just installed the long awaited non beta BIOS version 1415 for this Asus motherboard, so since the most critical problems are most likely gone, I thought it was about time to start doing a little bit of tweaking.
Currently I have most of the BIOS settings set as default except mainly memory set to EXPO 1. Anything else I should change ? Or is there any simple guide about that ?
I use this PC for gaming and work (mostly mostly Xilinx/AMD FPGAs so software such as Vivado, which can use all cores).
From what I saw in the articles about the 7000X3D CPUs, manual overclocking doesn't really seem worth the time and effort, so I would like to have only some simple recommendations on settings. I plan on using PBO with normal voltages, but I wouldn't mind getting some extra performance if it's simple and almost free in terms of effort, power consumption and stability. I'm not anymore into spending 5 hours tweaking for 0.5% performance boost with the risk of adding instability.
I heard the AI OC was setting voltages pretty high, which I don't want this time, I actually care about power consumption much more that I used to, although maybe not up to the point of undervolting.
Also I didn't install AI Suite nor Armoury Crate or MyAsus. I heard Ryzen Master could be good for tweaking oc in Windows, but I am totally fine doing that in BIOS only, since I don't plan on fine tuning that much.
