April 16, 2016"Everybody Wants Some!!" - A damn-near perfect movie that is somehow endlessly fun and easily accessible.
I fucking loved it. I may be biased - I'm a huge Linklater fan - but this was such an entertaining and joyful film to watch. I love slice-of-life films, which Linklater does so well, and here we could just zone in on this little corner of time in this little corner of the world and see what these people were doing with themselves for just these few days in 1980. I really, really loved that. Linklater's dialogue is as great as it always is, with the perfect amount of funny lines, meandering conversations and philosophy. I felt like Dazed and Confused was the blueprint for this film, but that this film did more with the characters. There was a summation to this film, namely in the scene with the two love interests in the lake/river early morning, talking about life and goals and that. I found the protagonists speech in that scene, about his essay regarding throwing boulders over a mountain, to be really poetic. More on reddit.com

For his ode to young, male friendship, Richard Linklater needed to create a world that felt so real and lived-in and likable that the audience would never know that the movie is essentially plotless. The viewer would be fine just hanging out with the baseball team at the center of the movie. To do that, Linklater moved the cast — made up of a mix of working actors and some non-actors — out to his Austin-area ranch for a rehearsal process that helped forge actual friendships, which then bled into the characters and their scenes.
